As some of you might know I have a property in the central west of NSW,
irs a great getaway for the weekends,and stress relief for me,
plans for the future include sinking a bore,getting a couple of dams put in and running cattle.
Originally I was going to put up a fairly large colourbond shed,part living space,part garage/shed.
But after looking at prices for such sheds,and doing some budgeting,I built this for not that much more money,but alot of hard yakka.
Tell me what you think..

Still a bit of work to do,but its getting there.

1235 acres (500 hectare) its in Coolah..
As soon as its set up right,Im moving out there full time..

Yeah a bit of breathing room,thats for sure.
A bit over half is timber though,if only I could find somewhere to sell it,

As ur out in the bush make sure u take all precautions with fire as this season will be pretty bad and hate anything to happen to your joint

Yeah,but I'd have to work for a year straight to get all the fence lines cleared up,the house is in a pretty safe spot though..
A bit of fire would do some good IMO, clear out some of that over grown tea tree, doubt any of the neighbors would like it though

There is a hell rally track,about 3km long to the front gate,and if that bores me,there miles and miles of national park on the back boundary,with similar tracks all through it,might have to sell the XA for an RS200 :P

Looks absolutely fantastic, I'd love to be able to live out somewhere like that, loads of room, fresh air, peace and quiet, got to be better than living in suburbia like most of us do, all crammed in like sardines in a can bickering at each other.........only problem is, what do you do for work, not much call for Computer Tech's in a place like that I'm guessing.

Computer tech? I couldnt make 50c a month with computers,I got no idea.
Im a plumber,I plan on still doing that part time,along with running cattle among other things..

WOW, You decided on a Conventional roof structure with Props and jacks instead of pre-fab trusses! I havent seen or heard of a house with a conventional roof for years! It looks fantastic mate!

What made you decide to go conventional instead of prefab trusses?

Properties vary from 1,000 - 5,000+ acres around here , not viable any smaller unless they're Orchards (100-200 acres) Out west they're measured in Sq Klms , now they ARE big.

Mate , you won't be disappointed & it's great to see , lots of hard work with cattle (or any livestock ) . Country life is great , I was born on a farm , city life for 20yrs then back to the country in 1991 ( managing local stock sale yards ) The country has got it's "down sides" but I would NEVER go back to the city . Neither would my wife , she even get's the "DT's" when we think of going to Sydney to visit , & she was born & bred in Concord (Syd)

Good idea doing duel work (farming/plumbing) best of both worlds .

Well that was actually decided for me by the type of timber used,white cypress,I was told its the only timber to use,white ants wont eat it,the neigbours house has been there since the 30's made of white pine with no ant damage,I was going to mill the timber myself off the property,but there werent enough suitable trees,heaps of black cypress,but not much white,so I did a deal for some ironbark off my place and got it...
I laid the slab with my brother,got a bricky mate to set up the corners,and did the rest using a string line,the internal frame and roof took us 2 weekends to put up,Im using an olive green colourbond for the roof,which ties in well with the surroundings,and getting a 20,000 litre rainwater tank,Ill use a little grundfos pump to circulate the water,fridge and hot water will be gas,and electricity will be solar,Its too far of a hike (expensive) to bring mains power in..

mate well done it looks a treat. i was reading through this post and was going to ask you questions about power and water . but you just answered them . mate you could have some wild parties there, or just chill and enjoy.congrats.
