Default Rego+CTP+Insurance

Hey all,
Just wanted to find out what people were paying for these. Just for curiosity sakes is all

Just paid my rego and CTP for 6 months each which was 570$. So per year i'm paying double that 1140$
Plus insurance on top for basic comprehensive (which has gone up again) to 1550$
So i'm paying close to 2700$ just to keep it legal.
Mind you being under 25 and on p's don't help.

Just wondering what Mister Government is charging all of you

Hey Vincenzo, do NT still have CTP as part of the rego fee?

I lived there for 20+ years before moving South.

I don't understand why NSW doesn't have a statutory scheme like in Victoria with the TAC, where you don't have to arrange your own CTP, it's just included as part of your registration fee.

For instance in Victoria it costs $680 for 12 months of registration and CTP for a 21/22 year old driving a BA Falcon.

Compare that with $1100-1200 that some people in NSW would pay and it seems ridiculous that there is such a price difference.

Victoria's scheme has always seemed the simplest and the easiest (far less hassle for people, and lower administrative costs), I've never understood why it hasn't been adopted in NSW.

It used to be like that in NSW, but they changed it many years ago telling us it was going to be cheaper that way due to the competition of the insurers, well for the first year it was and then it jumped up and gone up every year since

Both my cars are due for rego now.

My XY GT and my AU III XR8 each costs $510.50 for 6 months or $987.80 for 12 months. Thats rego and CTP all inclusive.

Insurance wise I pay around $550 a year for the XY GT, insured for agreed value and its on limited use.
The XR8 I pay around $750 a year for with 14k agreed value on full, daily use. Im wish LSV. Im over 40 with full NCB, rating 1.

Im in SE QLD, and this year our rego/ctp has dropped around $50 from last year. Something Iv never seen happen before, and was shocked to see happen.

Have you tried other CTP companies? That seems quite high. I'm with NRMA and is no where near that expensive

Hey XR6TOY, tried NRMA they quoted $740, they wont give me a discount because the comprehensive for this car is with shannons even though my xr6 is with them. if i was with them i would get $100 off but they will only insure it for 3000 not 9000 like it is with shannons. so i am screwed which ever way i go lol

the online calculator gave these prices
aami $739.72
allianz 746
cic-allianz 737
gio 734.42
nrma 740
qbe 739
zurich 741

so they are all bloody expensive

Yes still does - found last years receipt which was $152 Rego, $398 CTP and $39 inspection fee.

this year's was about $640 total. From what some are saying we seem to be better off here in the NT.

By the way all personalised plates are all a one off fee of $150. Had mine for 18 years.

Canberra rego + CTP are both together
for a year its 959.40 which is -
$414.80 for rego
$16 for road rescue fee
$2 for road safety contribution
526.40 for CTP

Then im paying about $850 a year for full comp on the XR8 but thats with the excess wound right up
