Default 22" rims on a VL

Whilst looking for tyres I came across this.

http://www.tempetyres.com.au/gallery_index.asp?Group=Project+'22INCH'

Is it just me or is a 22" rim on a VL a bit silly ??

That's a bit ridiculous. 18s or 19s would be plenty big enough on a VL.

well, considering most of them are out the back of "habibs" house without any wheels at all (waiting for the "fully sik drag car build) it seems only fair that the ones still driving get REALLY big and silly wheels to make up the difference.

It would be lucky to run a 12 with those wheels.

whats the point of having rims that jack the car up that much? Vls dont have a beefy front so they need 17-18s and lowered. thats looks like crap.

the rest of the car is pretty good though.

Did you ever think that when Holden was designing the VL commodore, they thought people would be fitting 22" rims to them 20+ years later? :

Wonder when the size is goin to stop cuz there is no way we are ever goin to fit anything bigger than those 22s on a car without it lookin absolutely e

unless its a 4WD

I didnt mind the 24inch rears on the VU for You ute.

Though i must admit the VL looks a tad overdone.

I've seen 22" in a completely stock beat up as hell box VL n/a I6, i had a good laugh at that, tho it was outside bridgestone... probably a worker or manager who had access and wanted a bit of a laugh.

I'd hate to think how much he paid, my mate went into tempe and wanted 2o's on a VL calis (Booster). They said dont expect to get out of it for under $8,ooo. Apparently the whole rear suspension need's to be replaced, smart boy put GTS 19's on it and sold it and bought a VR senator.

It doesnt look as bad as i expected, but they are way to big.

I work 2 doors down from Bob Janes, and they put 20" Chromies on a Territory on friday.
Now i dont like chrome, but this thig looked awsome.
I will try to get a pic.

20'' plus is very common in the States, so its all a matter of time before we see bigger.
Don't like it, looks like an elastic band around the rim, comfort factor zero rim damage highly likely.

Well, if I were to buy a cheap *** 20 year old piece of car, I'd actually go and put 26" rims on them. Why not? I'll have enough money left over compared to buying a nice car to start with.
