Exclamation Virgin scam...also qantas

Unsolicited Phone Calls
Virgin Australia has received reports of unsolicited calls from entities claiming to be from our airline. The content of these calls relate to prizes, vouchers, cancelled or rescheduled flights, with the caller eventually asking for a valid credit card or personal information.
These calls do not originate from Virgin Australia and are fraudulent. The scam is currently targeting a number of airlines and financial institutions both in Australia and overseas. The scam calls are associated with a business called South Pacific Getaways, and use a combination of automated recordings and telephone conversations.
Scammers often use technical terms and industry jargon to appear legitimate, and use high pressure telemarketing scripts in an attempt to obtain credit card numbers or personal information.
As with any suspected scam call we strongly advise customers to hang up immediately. If you have provided your credit card number during the course of an unsolicited call, please contact your financial institution immediately.
Virgin Australia has reported this scam to the authorities, and are continuing to investigate.
More information on this scam can be found on the Scam Watch website at www.scamwatch.gov.au.
