This is sad news.

She was dedicated to her job right to the very last days.

But.... a while back (several weeks ago??) A chap was mentioned in the radio saying he was from the future and said the Queen was to die on the 8th September if I recall.

Edit: he predicted October 4.

Yes RIP, I am not a monarchist but credit were credit is due, she went through so much, saw and dealt with god knows how many issues and seems to keep it together.

I was asked once if I could spend an hour or two with anyone in history who would it be?

Queen Elizabeth II would be my answer, imagine what she has seen, who she has spoken to, what she has done ( imagine any royalty being a mechanic during World War 2)

Yes, today we have lost an incredible person whether you are a royalist or not.

RIP HRH.

Amazing woman. Her passing......, it has made me think again about the monarchy.

I was a staunch republican in my earlier days, but now, looking at all the self-serving dingbats, crooks and liars we have managed to elect on both sides of politics, I will take this family that just serve, above anyone that we elect. We are just not good at it!

At least we know what we are getting, they spend many years being prepared, and then they understand their place as a head of state.

Like others here, I have no interest in the Monarchy, either formally or any of the goings-on of the individuals within the Royal Family.

However, QEII's passing is no doubt a significant historical event. And one that we should pay homage to. She is the longest serving English Monarch and the second longest Monarch in worldwide history.

I'm sure she had seen, and lived through, some significant historical events in her lifetime.

As RS said, there is a personal side of this that should not be lost. I find it bemusing that the person ascending the throne is expected to address the world so soon after losing a loved one. Having been through that experience myself, I couldn't possibly comprehend having to do that so stoically.

RIP Elizabeth.

Some people have no concept of time and place, nor showing respect.

RIP there will never be anyone like her. I'd like to share a beer with her and Warnie

Had my 5 seconds brush with HRH at the Royal Ascot in 2010. Stumbling across the footpath on my way back from the gents, there was a land rover coming towards me. Thought it was a bit strange someone would be allowed to drive on the path at the racecourse. True enough, it was HRH. No security or entourage, just the one land rover and her chauffer. Funny that the car stopped, allowed me to cross, and she gave a little smile. Nice lady I thought. RIP.

For those who may not be aware, it was announced this morning that there will be a national public holiday on Thursday 22nd September, to allow the public to celebrate the life of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. For Victorians, that is followed by the AFL Grand Final public holiday on the Friday.

Hi Guy's
Well i was listening to a Horse Trainer who was in the Royal Box with the Queen at Ascot.
he was saying "she knew more about Horse racing then he did"
.
In her time as Queen, she met 13 American Presidents out of 14 Lyndon johnson missed out meeting the queen.

RIP Queen Elizabeth.

I saw where the AFLW indigenous round refused to do a 1 minute silence prior to the game out of respect, yet all players were expected to take the knee during BLM movement out of respect.
But I bet they all take the public holiday for National Day of Mourning.

Hi Guy's
Ive alway's said " dont say anything bad about a person who have left this world because they can't defend themselves'.

If you can't show respect to a lady who has been the Queen of England for 70 year's then maybe you should keep your comments to yourself.

Huge moment in our history. RIP.

I have found it fascinating to watch the tradition and procedure after her passing.
Especially tonight’s procession.
