Well I was born in Australia so im deffinently Australian but i do have a background. My dad is Greek and came here when he was 4 years old. my mum is Australian and was born here but she said if we trace back down her family tree we have Dutch/Welsh down the lines. My grandfather is abit out there and swears there is Aboriginal way, way back too lol. Anyway we are a multicultural society and Australia has come together with all different types of backgrounds. So it got me wondering, can anyone here trace their family tree and if so how far back and what backgrounds do you have?

English and Scotish. Trace names back and it's all over the place (as most people are). Surname is Germanic reinforced by the Normans.
If you have 1/4 pygmy aboriginie you can get land rights I think. |

On my grandpa's side we have traced our family right back to the late 1700's in England. My great great Nan always used to go on about royalty being in the family and as she was very old and rather doddery everyone was like 'yes nan... sure nan...'
After she passed away was when my Aunt started doing the family history and it turns out that someone along the way actually DID marry a Maori Princess. So she was right all along. So that kinda shed the light on why one of my great uncles looks maori. He must of been a throwback or something because you could swear black and blue he was maori. On my grandma's side all i know is that her side originally came from Ireland. |

Biological father (never met him) i am assuming he has scottish in his blood.... There has been family history and my great great great grandmother was a wet nurse for some welsh lord... she is actually buried on his estate somewhere in Wales.... |

My Family background is English and Italian. The english side we have traced back to 1300 so far, and the Italian side back to the first Crusade.
My wife is australian, but a big of digging has revealed Cherokee, African American and Swiss in her background.

My mum is Dutch (came here as a 1 y.o) and so was my grandmother but my great grandmother (mothers side) was Spanish along with the rest of my ancestors on that side. Dad's side was Irish I believe.

My Dads side is English/Irish - he always goes on and on about how his great (great?)grandmother was the first free woman to set foot on Australia off the boat.
My mums side is Greek Cypriot (although my mum was born in Aus) - My grandparents immigrated from Cyprus with nothing when they were in their early twenties during the Second World War. My grandfather stepped off the boat, joined the Aussie army and went off to fight in Papua. So 50% Anglo and 50% Greek here I guess.
