Holden to sponsor Collingwood.......

This really annoys me as a Holden supporter....surely the Premier can get some cahoonas up and have a chat to Holden.....spread the love!

Port Adelaide were trying to get them 6 months ago as well which for me makes it worse,well a even bigger kick in the gut to Port.

Business must come first?????....should it as I am in two minds here but one is swaying.

SA bailed them out when in time of need and now Port Adelaide are in a time of need yet no dice....refer to last paragraph I guess

I am a West Coast supporter since 89 but lived in SA all my life and don't need to see another local club struggle when they might have not needed to.

Lexus used to at least be seen as something a collingwood supporter could aspire too.
Now the bogan car is joined at the hip to the feral football team.
Rumor has it that centrelink has done a deal to direct pay to GM Finance for all the unemployed Holden owners/Collingwood supporters.
Repo agents are up in (heavily tattooed) arms.

Must mean the commodore will die if they would rather spend money on sponsorship then trying to improve there cars or put it towards the new model. Good way to spend tax payers bail out money.

As a South Australian and a Port Adelaide club member, even though I'm a Ford mad, I'm absolute livid with Holden. You would think Holden, based in SA, Port needs a second major sponsor, they would get on board.

Eddie seemed to rub it in Koschies face a little as well with a "light hearted" remark.

Jeff Kennett weighed in on our local radio station today and said if he was premier in SA this wouldn't be happening....not sure of the consequences on this though or if he would have even cared?

it makes me want to throw up whenever i look at the central's site or jumper, but that is the way it is

suggesting they should sponsor port or adelaide because of locality is like saying that ford should sponsor the struggling western bulldogs because broadmeadows is slightly west of melbourne

Let's see - the Holden playbook seems to goes like this....report big losses....cry poor to both state and federal governments....receive taxpayer bail-out funds....announce job cuts....hand over money to sign up 888 Racing....cry poor to state and federal governments....receive further taxpayer bail-out funds....sign up James Courtney....announce job cuts....sponsor footy.......did I leave anything out?

yeah, but when Port sound out Holden over and over again, only to be told no, they aren't interested in sponsoring anyone, then go and sponsor Collingwood and the NRL..

Being a Port supporter, I, as well as the club, have every right to be ****ed

Comments like this **** me off!!

To start with, they have NOT been given bail out funds. They have been given investment funds which they needed to more than match what the government put in (just like Ford & Toyota have). Just because Holden (or any company) has received investment funds doesn’t mean they can't spend money on marketing. If that is the case I expect all of you to jump up & down every time you see a Falcon or Territory add because they received government money & shouldn’t market there product. Sponsoring these teams & sports helps Holden built brand loyalty. This loyalty makes people go out & buy Holden car. And why was it OK for Toyota to sponsor these sports last year?

Ford are the ones we should be angry at. They get all these funds from the government & they dont spend any of there own money to makert the product. That is the real crime here!!

Don't worry, Jay Weatherill has called Holden and told them he isn't happy. Plus, Jay is a Port supporter too ;)
