It works ok, except when I'm inching forward in traffic and especially when going down hill. The transmission engages as I inch forward and then when I brake, the engine shudders until the transmission dis-engages. The local mechanic told me that there is no band adjustment on an AU1, so can anyone suggest whether there's something that can be done...or not?
The car has done 135,000Kms. |

I had a transmission specialist tell me they had no band adjustment either. I've since read a lot of information suggesting he was completely full of ... Do some google maybe?

What do you mean by dis-engage? I thought when u stop it just stays in 1st and spins freely on the torque converter?
I've had this issue a coupla times, only straight after an ecu reset though and it didn't last. |

i just got mine serviced by ford they said the same thing theres no bands just cogs
|

I mean when I inch forward, the transmission picks up when I increase the throttle. So what's happening is that it doesn't sense that I've taken my foot off the throttle and so the engine almost stalls. |

bands are adjusted with shims , with the valve body off x amount psi is put into a port, front on one side reverse on the other, the travel of the band is measured then and the appropriate size shim is fitted, both bands are adjusted in a similar fashion, re Max Ellery`s, i have been threatening to have a go at mine for while but the just cant get motorvated lately
