Radio time-out

2016 MD Mondeo Trend. I spend a fair bit of time just sitting in the car. The radio time-out is at about 10 minutes. Is there a way to extend the time out? I've gone through the manual and had a dig around the internet but can't find a way.

with ign off? if you turn accessories on should be more like an hour i think

I might be a bit thick - where and how do you do only accessories? Push the radio on/off button gives you about 10 minutes. Pushing the start button with your foot OFF the brake switches everything on including running lights, fan, etc.

If your vehicle battery is a couple of years old you might find that after an hour of the radio being on; you wont have enough power left to start the engine!

You're not thick at all pawd.
Two options as far as I know, without actually starting the car.
Hit start button once without brake = ignition on and all features of the car are activated, and start button flashes.
Hit start button twice without brake = turns on Sync features, including radio and bluetooth, and start button light goes out. Agree this times out after about ten minutes.

On the MB you can turn the stereo on and it switches off after an hour. Doesn't that work on the MD?

Actually, we must try an experiment. Hit the start button twice around the 8-9 minute mark, and see if it resets the timer.

Yes it does restart the timer. But as sure as "God made little apples", you're gonna forget (been there, done that).

Have you tried Ford to find out if time can be reprogrammed via scantool in central vehicle configuration Something may have been altered at some stage - battery saver or similar

Yes, you can surely update the settings within the appropriate module to change the time-out value - I am very confident you could adjust that - the very hard bit is knowing what memory location you have to change the value of.

But, I found this for a Mustang - and they often share similar modules:

Stereo Extended Play
APIM 7D0-01-01 : xx?x xxxx xxxx
Change ? To: A-Off, 2-20 minutes, 3-30 minutes, 4-40 minutes, 5-50 minutes, 6-60 minutes

I don't have the Forscan software anymore to look at this module in my own vehicle to see what it's set to... if you were really passionate about getting this done; then you might want to phone around a few specialist dealers to see who would be prepared to make this tweak -I guess it would be more likely possible from the performance tuners.
