For those of you playing at home pondering what this years tax return can fund, sit down if you are standing as the ATO has lost its poo.
They are bleating on that the way to lodge now is via myTax (accessed via the equally woeful myGov portal). I went to do just that and it's now 2 hours since I first attempted the process. Silly old me was thinking, surely this is an isolated incident, just a busy time of year. WRONG. The entire myTax system is in meltdown. So much so, it isn't even accessible from the myGov portal right now. There is no timeframe on when it will be fixed, essentially zero feedback from the ATO. http://www.smh.com.au/technology/tec...07-gi6bru.html If some of the claims are correct, the ATO needs to be shot, repeatedly. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to have the system set up to handle just 2500 users? Do these effwits not know how many taxpayers submit returns this time of year???? Oh wait, it gets even better. The ATO in their infinite wisdom are canning the e-tax software which shock-horror-disbelief, actually worked. This year is the last year they will run it. Yeh.
Took me a while to find etax but I did. I got caught out trying to sort out their stupid mytax web portal or whatever it was that did not work. If I ain't broke, don't fix it. Appalling that they still are having issues Sent via HTC Velocity + [HolicsROM v1.3] [SWEEP2WAKE]

Called them last Friday and all their computers were down... I'll try them again tomorrow and see what happens.

Hopefully it will be fixed by the time I get around to doing my tax. I don't even get back to Australia until mid August.

Tried it on the 4th and thought it was pretty easy. Much quicker than Etax.

My accountant retired nearly 4 years ago. Suddenly my returns magically halved going through other accountants and I'm technologically retarded so online is an abortion waiting to happen.
Just been letting my **** pile up for the last 3 years lol |

The myGov portal is actually a good idea but why on gods name they had to bring eTax into it I dont know. eTax was/is the best thing the ATO has ever done.
I too googled hard to find the old school application and thankgod I did. I did my dads tax on Saturday before they shut it down for maintenance. Is it still not up? Such a shame...eTax was a great little program.

After a few days trying I gave up trying to log into mytax last night. The MyGov portal works fine, until you try to connect to the ATO site through it.
You other peeps are right, the e-tax download is well hidden, which is strange because MyTax can only deal with basic tax returns, you need to use e-tax for the more complicated stuff.

I downloaded Etax yesterday, did my tax in about a hour, submitted and all done. I had no issues at all. Maybe I was just lucky?

Had my tax done at ITP yesterday. I was by the lady doing my tax that maintenance was being performed on the ATO system (new programme) during the normal working hours rendering the system practically useless. The new system is apparently slower too. I was also told the ATO haven't begun processing lodged tax forms yet either (same as this time last year) and won't be until the new system running properly.
Apparently ITP's head office has asked if were possible that maintenance of the system be done at night and for future reference, not to be done in June every year when the ATO are at their busiest. |

I down loaded etax 2015 and did mine its still there just got to look for it for some reason they arnt making it obvious

The problem apparently will not be fixed for a few days. So the news report said last night.
That MyGov thing is stupid. I tried to log in to the centrelink app attached to MyGov when I had to lodge my paid parental leave. I gave up because it to hard to use and link everything up. They were asking for a CRN number that I had 14 years ago and when I received my last payment. It was quicker for me to leave work half an hour early, catch a tram to the Centrelink office, wait in line and hand the form over physically. |

Maybe...I have found it very handy and in theory they dont need to mail out letters to those who use the account.
The system has merit...they just need to keep the etax app in the background until its 100%

Mytax is a disgrace. I still can't get it to work. I did the questionnaire which recommends I use mytax and will now not let me use etax. I hate the ato.

i feel that i got ripped off by tax today i got my tax done payed $6258 in tax and only got back 681 minus my 130 fee plus had to pay my wifes fee and was only left with $326 its a ******* joke
