Hi all the wifes 6cyl au2 has decided to start revvin its guts out. was all good but then the revs have jumped up to about 2 gran and just sits there. have checked the cable and is not tight. any idea's

no auto is all good the car is idling at 2000 - 2500 rpm constantly weather in park or drive

clean the spring inside the ISC with brake cleaner or the like

Do not shift into gear at those revs and do not let the car stall up the transmission in drive or reverse constantly- all that energy goes into the ATF and heats it up massively. Leave it long and you'll end up with a fire/explosion. If you can't sort it out without driving it, get it towed.
