Yes they are rare in comparison with the 4 Speed auto but they are not THAT rare. It'd be a good starting point for modification/ good daily but thats about it.

My mate bought one (well an EL) probably 8 years ago. Its got a crow cam, extractors etc... and 240,000k's. Pretty awesome car for what it is, really grunty with the cam, he still has it as a work/family car. I seen another one (EF) in a car yard a year ago, forget how much was on it.

IMO there is something a little special about a manual 'taxi pack' falcon or commodore. Its sure as hell more unique than the plethora of XR6's getting around. I had my mates EL in mind when i bought my BA.

My son's EF Futera is a 5 Speed. Less common than autos but not rare.; 1,000s around I expect.

Does anyone have any percentages? As in what percentage of manual/auto base model falcons in a certain year were sold?

If you want rare, try and find an EB series 1 Fairmont Ghia that had the V8 and 5 Speed manual.

Unfortunantly they stopped doing that with EB series 2... the fools!!

You could get EB1 Ghia wagons too... so I wonder how many EB1 Ghia V8 5 speed wagons were made.

There's actually quite a few e-series around here with 5 speed manuals in them, mine being one of them.
As said, not rare, just not common.

5 speeds are definitely the most common in the S-pack and XR models. Fairmonts are where they are the rarest. My parents own an EBII GLi wagon with a factory 5 speed.

I've got an EF 5spd, factory. Its a futura. Recently my mate bought and then sold another EF Futura factory 5spd.
I've seen a lot more EA-EDs in manual though.

Imo manuals are common and auto's are extremely common.

There may be less manuals but there's still multiple gearboxes been sold each week.
