Fingers crossed it has the ecoboost petrol V6. If it retains the current 3.2 diesel, it would be a massive disappointment.

To live up to the name it needs a performance motor and good suspension - not a sticker pack hopefully!

I tend to agree although I dont want to because Im worried it will stay.

A V6 EB would be the icing on the cake if Ford want to stay ahead of the game. if they are happy to tick over and not push fine thats understandable.

But with the new players coming into the market, with an established name, they need to continue the momentum.

A Tdi, not matter the output will be disappointing. Atleast have the V6 EB as an option and I guess all the R&D is done on the 5 pot.

But in saying that perhaps some more mods would be needed for their durability testing if they are meeting higher internal standards.

Either way its cool, just hope its more than a sticker pack.

Corrected

Anything less and it won't be a Raptor IMHO.

And Raptors don't have deseasals, turbo (OK, ecoboost) petrol thanks

Stickers accepted, but ONLY if Ford get the performance and suspension right.

Whatever engine they pick, i dont see it being a bespoke installation. So if this picks up a petrol V6 thrn surely the rest of the range would be getting one too.

I think, if petrol 3.5LTT is fitted, it'll just be for the Raptor.

They'll pick up the funds when they start selling these in the US and Europe.
I remember reading, that the US have issues (in their melons) regarding Diesel and i think the Raptor name is PERFORMANCE. A nice TT3.5L V6 just oooozes the goods!!!

The best they would fit is the 2.7. It makes no sense fitting the 3.5, its like giving the Focus and Fiesta ST the same engine.

Did you watch the video? It's clearly not just a sticker pack, that's not how Ford Performance operates.

it may have Ford Performance at the end of the Ad, but that car was developed by the boys and girls at Geelong, Lara and Broadmeadows.

.

Ecoboost and the 10 speed for sure, by then. Suspension will be a big difference I reckon. Tipping interior will be a nicer, more race inspired place to be. Maybe even Focus-like...

This will be a serious car (or whatever else you call these dual cab Utes) IMO.

I don't reckon they'll take the Raptor name lightly.

I've been on record as saying I'd rather pull hairs out of my bum than drive a dual cab ute- could this change that? Hmmmmm.....

From the motoring link in post 2;

Quote:
...Whatever its technical details, even with an estimated price of around $80,000, the Raptor will undoubtedly be a formidable rival for Volkswagen’s Amarok V6 and the upcoming Toyota HiLux TRD and Mercedes-Benz X-Class...
Don't do that again Ford

I think I saw one of these getting around the Alice a few weeks ago. I had no idea what it was so didn't take a lot of notice. If it was one of them it is a little bigger than the ranger but I don't think it was a diesel. But like I said I didn't take a heap of notice.

The Wildtrak is about 61k. No way it's a similar price. This is the flagship.

I read 'somewhere' a few days ago when this Ranger was spied, Ford Oz can't call it a Raptor because Hino own that name in Australia, like Toyota (?) own Edge, and it is likely to be called Ranger Raider.
But then, that could have may have been BS.

It won't be a run of the mill ranger diesel.. :P

Price will tip 90K once dealers get in on the act.

I read that too but as it is now on the Ford Australia website calling it the Ranger Raptor I'd have to conclude that issue got sorted out

Unlike the Toyota Edge fiasco
