So a while a made a towing thread.
I used mine tonight to help a mate - seriously it had no problems whatsoever? Literally no issues not felt stressing anything. It wasn't a big one (mine a Haymen Reece) but 2 Tonne or so. Mine grabbed and ran it beautiful. TlDr- the ratings are full of ****. My old XRT could never tow as well as too soft on the back but *rated* higher. |

I'm sorry, I just don't get what your thread has to do with Ford Forums, my mistake.

XR6T is supposed to use a weight distribution hitch when towing over 1600 kg. That was part of the heavy duty tow kit. Now if you decide not to follow Ford's recommendation, that's not the cars fault.
And there is so much more to towing than just the weight of the trailer or ball weight. Its distribution plays a huge part. You're comparing unequally things. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk

Just because it will do it, doesn't mean it should.
But you know better than VW's engineers though, right? |

I tow a Van with my G6ET, using the weight distribution hitch. Not a problem and it tows very well. My last trip returned 10.4L/100km.

I have no interest joining a VW forum now that's what I drive (the R36 a special model the rest of range do nothing for me unlike Fords). I still enjoy discussing cars here in the Pub and Bar area. Sorry for the confusion mate. Last edited by MercuryT; 18-02-2021 at 06:20 PM. |

Can you please stop. I'm asking if not hoping you move on from trolling me. The Van was safe and did it easy. As a lawyer I'm aware of the risks but no ignorance rather the tow ball weight is not taken into account if set up correctly. Move on. Please. |

I refuse to argue any further. All I'll say it's bullshjt as I've seen heaps of VWs pull Caravans and mine one of the most powerful and strongest of all. |
