Hi there , i'm just wondering if it works if i just remove it ?'coz the replcement part cost in Australia is $1200.00 for what has to be renamed a CATACLYSMIC PERVERSION ...only kidding.any light anyone could shed on the whole matter would be greatly appreciated .

How old is your car? Can't it be replaced under warrently like it has been done with my car?

Removal of Catalytic Converter is illegal and not recommended. Not only is it bad for the environment but in an otherwise fairly standard car won't have a huge benefit. It's not restrictive at power below about the 130kw mark for the 2.0 as far as I know.
I agree with Adam, although I can guess either you have modded your way out of warranty or perhaps the car is just a shade over 3 years old.
