This gearbox is creating so much streess it hardly seems worth it. I got news on Monday that the guy had opened it up to see what was broken. All I got told was that it was major and the cluster gear fo secon was stuff along with lots of other bits. The bill to fix it (I hope ur all sitting) $2295

if u dont wanna pay that, just get a good second hand gearbox and being AU there are still quite a few low k boxes out there. anywhere upwards of $400 bucks (maybe less if ur lucky) if u pull it out yourself....all depends
i wouldnt pay 2300 for the fix, a good second hand box, serviced every 10,000 to 15,000 kms should last at LEAST 300,000kms |

I rang 10 or 12 wreckers today and found no one would sell a second hand AU box for less than a 1000 one even wanted 2000 told him where to put that one. Wreckers know these boxs are in demand and there asking way to much for them. I agree they should last 300,000 thats why i miffed mine only did 65000 and it didn't get that much od hard time while i drove it not sure about the previous owners.

If your gonna be spending up replacing the box (looks inevitable for an AU 5spd), then i honestly think it would be worht considering doing a conversion to a SUpra box, im sure even the non-turbo ones are better than the T5 in every way.
