Default Falcon cop car in US?

Just on BON Forums and one of the guys on their posted this in a thread about Falc continuing until at least 2015.

Quote:
I believe senior police have been shown a funny looking vehicle they thought was a Taurus....
Normally wouldn't look twice, but the guy in question is gennerally fairly close to the mark...

Can anyone here give a nudge or a wink without giving anything commercially sensitive away?

Read the Thread on Blue Oval News.

All well and good to 'showcase' a Falcon to US Police forces, however, it still has one minor, insignificant hurdle to overcome first: it's not LHD.

Unless...Broady has been working on that little 'issue'...

Yeah, there would be huge laughter from me!

There is a few interesting quotes on that forum by two users.
* One comment was showing GM how to do a proper RWD chassis and the weird Taurus mention.
* The other was the one about the new Mustang.

How much to fit those 3 engines? $230M is alot coin. LHD?! Or expansion of plant for more output of the I6 with more upgrades.

Also, this link about 2011 Mustang engines is funny. Especially posts 24,25,26.

http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums...ic=34347&st=20

Wonder if that means I6 into F150?

Wonder if the police demo car was fitted with the Coyote engine or the I6T?

And that's something else I have been pondering and have posted about - $230M is a lot of coin considering they really only have to certify 2 engines (the LPG one is really factory fitment of an LPG kit to an existing engine). The bulk of the R&D costs for the diesel motor for Territory would have already been spent by now - soooo...what gives?

230 million isn't much for 3 engines regardless if they 'appear' to be the same as previous versions or if R&D has been done because they're existing engines. The fact remains that they are new enough and different enough with first time application in this platform, that they all need most, if not all, of the various tests (crash, durability, NVH, systems development, emissions, shipping overseas etc) as a new platform.

There is no four door on sale that is made in the USA that looks anywhere near as good as the falcon, nor anything with as much power and the driving dynamics. Hopefully for ford aus this becomes a reality.

Looks are subjective, remember the old bubble Taurus (the one they tried selling here) did really well over there......We should have exported the AU over there!!
