Honeymoon help!

Hi everyone,

Just hoping some of you can tell me about your honeymoons, what you did (pm bedroom stories

), if and why you had a good time.

It just seems there are too many options and it is doing my head in! Also I would prefer to hear from real people rather than glossy brochures.

Would love to hear from people that went camping to people that rented a tropical island, i am mostly interested in what made it special (apart from your new wife/husband obviously)...

Driving holiday for 3.5 weeks from Paris back to Paris via Italy, Holland and Belgium. If your marriage can survive that, it'll survive anything!

Haha yeah thats a good point we do argue a bit in the car, maybe a driving holiday isn't the answer, I was considering it.

We found a nice cabin, actually found it on eBay of all places....... Was fantastic, quiet but close enough to do the touristy thing through the day but secluded enough for a night time honeymmon adventure ;)

Me and my wife went to the whitsundays for a couple of weeks, was awesome, cant wait to get back up there, had a ball, also it was this time of year we went.

Went for a drive.

Geelong, Canberra, Bathurst, Sydney, Brisbane, Dubbo, Echuca, Barossa Valley and back to Geelong, best part of two and a half weeks.

Hubby and did a few weeks in Tassie, plenty of adventure during the day, lots of gorgeous cosy cabins to stay in and you can just drive everywhere yourself. If you go at the right time of year, you get good weather during the day, but the nights are still cold enough to cosy up

_2: in front of an open fireplace or get funky in a hot spa!!

Another Driving Story (which you probably don't want to hear) 2 weeks in Tassie too - basically started by eating wedding cake outside the big Koala (Western Highway Victoria) whilst broken down waiting for the RACV to turn up. Put the car on the Ferry on time in Melbourne to Devonport and then a clockwise drive around the island. I prebooked the whole lot using Best Western Hotels at the Tasmanian Tourist office in Canberra a few months before hand.

We didn't really treat it as a honeymoon - just a great two weeks driving around a top holiday destination. It doesnt seem like we've been married almost 18yrs now and we still haven't been back to redo the trip. But this time we'd have to take the kids et all

We were flat stony broke after the wedding so the honey moon was on a budget, we told our selfs it has to be right after the weeding other wise its just a holiday , freinds of my wifes family had a unit at Coloundra so we road triped it takign a few days to get there we had no hotel bookings we just had the NRMA travel guid and said right were startign to get tired where do we stay tonight, for us it was more abotu who we were with than the star rateing of the hotel, we loved every moment of it though I couldnt tell you any sights we actualy saw LOL, we did go to dream world one day I think and we also did a night at Noosa but other than that it was just great to unwind and enjoy each others company ;) after the bloix involved in organsiing a wedding

We went to the club-med resort in lindeman island on the whitsunday's. Great if your on a budget because everything is inclusive, drinks (beer,scotch cocktails etc,) all food etc you dont pay for anything once your there. Down side is there are alot of kids when we were there so not too peacefull.

We did the whitsundays, for two weeks.
Hamilton had some great scenery, all tours etc. and a good night life, oh and the buggies!!.
Daydream was too family oriented. We even saw a couple of guys and a girl practising family making in the pool at 7:30am... I would drop in for the day but wouldnt stay over night, lovers cove was cool with fish feeding round your feet in ankle deep water.
Long island was very laid back, they had a bomb and belly-flop comp at the main pool, it also had some good bushwalks.
Hayman, holy crap what a place! you cant take a bad photo. Exclusivity at its best, but you pay for it. The best steak I have EVER had I would pay to go back just for the steak.
Airlie beach, Cedar creek falls would have been good if there was water, Cactus Jacks was good for its happy hour and Tex-mex food, otherwise, meh.
and finished off in Port Douglas in a penthouse suite with a roof top spa. Daintree is worth a visit and swimming at Mossman Gorge was excellent.

So we basically made sure we did enough things to have stories to tell and feel like we actually did something, but then had enough down time for the honeymoon stuff too.

We did ours sort of as two different types of weeks. First week we went for a rainforest cabin type deal with a awesome spa. Was our quiet week just to relax by ourselves after all the hoo har of the wedding. Then second week we switched locations to the coast and did themeparks, going out for meals and whatnot.
Worked out good that way, was better then if we'd done just one or the other. We figured if we went for all quiet relaxing we'd get bored and if we went for all active doing stuff we'd be too busy to just chill out.

We got married on the Whitsundays. Our honeymoon started there and continued up the coast to Cook Town. Just hired a car took the laptop and booked our accommodation as we went on the wotif website. Had a ball, if we liked somewhere we stayed a few days if we didn't we moved on. And it's a hell of a lot cheaper booking last minuet than months before hand

We went to Vanuatu, and loved it. It's a good mix of having resort-style accomodation, good weather, lovely locals, good food, scenery, but also having some native touches there too which makes you appreciate the place. You can also do a heap of tours over the many islands or main island or a day game fishing. The fishing was the highlight for me getting huge tuna and barracuda (not the missus though, she spent the day over a bucket in 3m swell)

I think the woman wants to lob at a resort, i would prefer not to be tied down and have a bit of an adventure like some of you guys... dunno.

This was our original plan, I can't remember what happened to this plan...

Ok guys I forgot to mention all of a sudden we are building a house as well, so thats confusing us more and also means we probably can't afford a honeymoon... problem solved

Maybe I should start asking for CHEAP ideas...

Pitch a tent in the backyard?
For that extra adventure, pitch it in the neighbours back yard.

My Wife and I vacationed in Saint Lucia. It was beautiful ! !

We did some side trips. Visited a Rum Factory (I got wasted)
We also visited a screen printing place, the shopping mall and downtown area, then also hit up the rain forest. That was amazing.

So I deff recomment Saint Lucia -

3 weeks in Fiji wearing nothing but shorts for me and a tiny bikini for my younger wife.
It was blissful.Great swimming, good food on the outer islands and plenty of naughty pleasures Ya Ya Ya .Now 3 kids later and almost 10 years down the track I get friendly with a wet moccassin, Yuk Yuk Yuk , better tap the wifes shoulder for some hanky panky.
