Default Ba 4speed workute goes 10.63 @132mph, Now 10.44@129

Have acheived a new PB at Heathcote AFF Drags day....

Built motor
Built 4 speed auto 2800 stall
Nizpro stage 2 kit
Standard factory turbo with 18psi actuator and flapper mod.
E85

This is my only vehicle for the last 5 yrs , its my daily workute, driven to the track and changed to slicks, and driven back home.

Many thanks to Tony from Ultra Tune Dandy for all his mechanical work.
Heath for his custom wheels
Riphsv for the sticky tyres
and Daniel Nagy (Headsex) for his great tuning abilities.

One day il retire it for a big turbo upgrade :-)

Yeh the btr 4 speed is 4.5 years old, i broke the planateries about 3 weeks ago, and Phil at Bayswater said the bands and clutches are still like new, so put it all back together with a cyro'd Au planatery set.

Diff is standard, ive had the lsd rebuilt twice in the 5 yrs ive owned the ute.

I had the trans slipping on me on my second run, still trying to think why as it only did it once out of all the runs.
Had the reservoir water tank lose water, so im trying to find out if this was the cause of it.

Running full slicks does put alot more load on the trans also.
So i have some things to look at before my next outing.

How much power can the btr's handle? I am looking into buying a ba xr8 ute to put a kenne bell on it but not sure whether to get the 4spd auto or 6 speed manual.

There only 3 Btr's that i know of that have lasted a few yrs, mine is one of them, others i know havn't lasted much at all.... So it all depends on how you drive it and how well you look after it, and who builds it.

My tuners pushing 480rwkw but clicked it into 4th not long ago crossing the line for a 10.3 and fryed the 4th band.

So dont ever touch 4th at full throttle, that's one of the mistakes people make, the other is cruising around in the wrong gear with a convertor, just creates unecessary heat and wears the clutches.

I basically drive mine like a manual and never gets put into normal mode, and i make sure im off the convertor stall speed before i change to the next gear.
I believe thats pretty much why my clutches are still like new, cause my changes are hard and not soft and slipping into gear.

Only if someone actually looked at designing a complete new valvebody for the BTR to be manual, then they would be a good box as you can control it all and over drive...

Hope your not pulling a leg bud

So is it full manual hydrolic valve body with no electronics used to shift gears and engage overdrive???

or still has electronics but shifts when you hit the shifter???

Please let us know who is doing this...

Yarra Valley Transmissions (Melbourne) have a 4 speed auto no electronics and you can full throttle in 4th gear. Its a reverse transbraked 4 speed built to handle 1000hp, It is not a Btr and price is around 8k.

Bill, the et run by Ivan was very decent and still retains a factory turbo, no big front wheels like yours and its a ute.

Credit where credit is due.

all i said was great work and good effort on the 'driving there driving back' costs that would be involved.

10.63 factory turbo is great with a standard wheel on full slicks.

full slicks or radials makes bugger all difference, we used to think it did, but after testing both we have seen the proof for ourselves. in some ways the radials are even better than a slick.

did you need to run full slicks to run a high/mid 10 as well or are you talkin 8s/9s territory?
