Talking Driving it into the ground value for money!!

Yes as the title suggests..for me the best value for money of a car ultimately is how far it can go before it goes bung. I am the first to admit that spending money on a car is a waste in the end. So for value for money I am gonna drive this car until she wont go even with a hip in my hand. :

I sometimes think this is the best way for it to pay for itself..is not my wife..hahah :Reverend:

What are your view on this? Should we pray to lord ford every night or just give it stick to the end?

Probably right...woke up at 4AM this morning and was brainstorming.Funny how I thought this idea. The best value for money car I have ever had was one that cost 1000 dollars xe panelvan.I painted it with a gun 400 dollars and then only put petrol in it for two years. Then it went bung!! Ironically for a junker it had done a great job and kept business going well. I am not thinking too much..just not allowed to do the lawns at 4 am in the morning. So what the heck..I am a blokes bloke and the car while we love em are just cars...

I tried to kill my old Eb before getting the Au. Had it for 5 years, trashed the **** out of it but it wouldn't die, suspension was shot, it leaked oil from every possible spot it could but the day I traded it in, it still ran as good as new.

Ah yes...my eb wagon was a gem .I never did anything to it as I was scared that it would not work due to the ecu!! That thing did 280,000 kilometres until 2 semis trashed it with me in it! That was a great car.

Run it into the ground mate, its the way to go I reckon. Commodores/Falcons should be worth 15 years at least.

Running my Escort to the ground as we speak

Rocker panels started to rust out and I got tired of my shoes getting wet so I bought a can of expanding insulation foam & filled them.
A few minutes with a body file & can of spray paint...good for another few years!

Now your talking. Before the forums I used to wash the eb with a broom and dishwashing liquid. Now the au gets meguiars. This stuff cost more for one bottle than I spent on the eb washing its entire life.

Only replace what's required with something that will do the job better next time = mods :P

If it fulfills the role required of you, why change car?

i literally drove my XF into the ground...
it was a X-Taxi to start with over 1 million on the clock
but it ran well and handeled like a dream....

i had purchased my el and decided to see how badley i could tread the old girl...

2 trips to qld... it was still running...
a month hooning around NT on a farm...
still running... at this stage is was 40xxx since its last oil change...

at this stage i was getting pretty ****ed with it not dying and decided to take it out rally style on some tracks...

a few dings later and over 100 liters of fuel it was still running....
we then decided to spend 100$, yes 100$ on fual additave to a 60l fill....
10 x 750ml bottles later she ran like a ****EN DREAM... would spin its wheels off the line and all... was GREAT... about 2 days after it started bogging down and then just lost it and wouldent start....
out of deperation to see if she had any left i kicked it over into LPG... and a frikkne mirical it started.... blocked fuel filter...

to this day its full of rust and hooni around with a chopped top around a farm near ulla dulla...

Your not touching my car with a broom. I can beat that. Read my car washing horror stories on autopia.org. Some great stuff there.
Although I haven't spend much on it for a long time, since I'm going to be passing it on to my niece one day, I will be spending up ASAP getting it faster, lower, meaner.
