Hey AU nuts,
I'm just wondering if anyone has any times/figures of the quickest AU 5.0L (and hopefully what work has been done). It'd be good to know both the quickest N/A and quickest blown if possible. Cheers

There's a N/A one on the Timeslip database with a 13.507 sec quarter and a 113.83 MPH. Says has 390.8 horsepower (290kw) and modifications listed as 'everything' whatever that means. Next appears to be mine at a 14.373 which is a huge jump. There's sure to be heaps of 13 sec AU 5.0Ls around though... hopefully mine will be one of them this Wednesday.

I think it would have to be Menice's AU Fairmont Wagon. 12.1 @ 116MPH, or 13.4 @ 104MPH without nos.
Alloy headed 347 windsor Nos 3200 stall converter 3.9 diff gears Wagon is actually up for sale, at the moment. As for Blown, it would probably be Grunter's new TS50, but most likely Laminge's TS50 once he fixes the problems (Rev limiter, diff, etc)

Toms is being Stroked to 347 Borry, turbo plans are no more.
LG the question was the quickest 5L not the quickest 5.6L/347 stroker

Thanks guys. I am more talking streetable (as far as I know, Minge's beast isn't streetable anymore).
I was just curious how easy it is, 'so to speak', to get an AU 5.0L into 13s without sacrificing streetability and fuel consumption within a reasonable budget - [also without N20]. What sort of times could be expected from decent heads, exhaust and T5? The 5.6L certainly knows how to rumble, but to stroke a 5.0L is a bit pricey and I'd be assuming it'd be almost easier and cheaper to turbo a six pot - but who can sacrifice the sound of eight cylinders barking?? You'd have to be frigging crazy :P Opinions?

There's a guy in Sydney called Ramsin that has an AU which has run 10.80, but it has a 347 and uses NOS at the track. Other than that he drives it every day, picks up the kids from, does the shopping etc in it.

manifold change (1000) good tune (800 Chiptorque 1400 uni) you'd be in the very low 14's and on a cool night might step into the high 13's. Add a set of alloy heads (2500 - 3000) and you would be. Labour not included in any of those prices It is still going to use fuel though! You may find a cam + stroker +tune may work out the same price wise and get you into the 13's as well with a more torquey bottom end as well, but adding heads/manifold later on and you'll see it into the low 13's maybe 12's depending on the cam you choose. Slipper runs low13's with heads/cam/unichip/stroker Also take into account what the car does now. The au V8's vary from stock a lot some run 14.5 out of the box whilst others get 15.3 Supercharge a stock manual with 3.7 gears @ 10psi and you'll be floating around the 12.5's for around 10k

13s for a 5.0L Mustang is a no brainer, many guys even doing it with the HO manifold and E7 heads. Our Falcons are a bit heavier though. With a 331/347 stroker you should be able to get away with a bigger cam and/or smaller converter (for auto) to help streetability and economy.

That time was when it was standard with just 3.7 gears, havent heard anything from Grunter I recall him saying he decided to re-do the auto so I might not be out yet.
His xr8 did 12.6 @ 320ishrwkw cam/alloys/3.7s/manual/vortec@10psi with major traction issues 1st 2nd and into 3rd

im not going to start any flame war here.....
but can someone explain, why a falcon with 320 rwkw can run a 12.6, when an exhaust and edit, can net high 12's, and a cam adn edit can net low 12's for a commodore ? i know alot comes into play, but i woudl expect something with that sort of set up to be dipping into the 11's at least... dont cut sick at me for saying an ls1 is better here, im just sayign i expected the falcon to be quicker |

Grunter's car was not set up for drag racing, the LS1s that do those times are.
