Hey guys
I have always wanted either a 70s falcon or a 70s capri coupe. I recently saw one on ebay for $3k and it didnt sell, the seller is going to hold onto it for a while so i may have some time to find some money. How bad does this one look and estimated time/money to repair. I wouldnt mind a second opinion on it as i have always wanted to restore an old car. This looks like a club members former track car....can't be sure, but the orange capri racing sticker point to it. If it's the car I'm thinking about, I remember it had a bit of rust....par for the course with a 70s capri.
Surprised it didn't sell at that price as there was a dismantled heap that sold for more. Can't really offer a 2nd opinion but I would always encourage a new Capri owner into the fold. If you are in Melbourne, you are quite welcome to head down to our next club meeting at the Tower Hotel in Hawthorn and have a chat with a few guys to pick their brains. Club scene is a gold mine of information.
Chat with people from NSW Small Ford Club, and also NSW Capri Club. IIRC they both have websites with contact details. And we have an ACT Small Ford Owners Club as well with Capri members.... (shameless plug) ....www.actsmallfordowners.org If really keen, they may even have members with cars to sell you. But remember, 40yr old English designed cars are built to collect rust. Check anything carefully before buying, or at least allow for the worst. Other than that, they are tecnologically simple and you can have fun tracking down parts, which is much easier these days with the internet and good OZ:UK and OZ:US exchange rates. Overall, Capris are more exclusive and elusive to find. They look like nothing else and camaraderie is pretty strong in this scene. Mine still gets lots of looks in the street - even from people who weren't born back then. Falcons are much more common and easier to get parts for....but are more common (just my biased opinion!!) Just depends what you are looking for. Happy hunting |

yes they do . and with a bit of work on the v6 heads and big pockets they acan run real good to...
