Default Can someone tell me what is correct?

I have been done for defect on my ED falcon and when i went to get roadworthy i was told that my wheels are to big.
I have 18 inch wheels and stock i had 15s, so my question is how many sizes can you go up from stock and was there an option of 16s for ED
If anyone can help me it would be great
thanks

legally you can only go 17's and yes there was an option of 16 inch wheels but unless your car has the tyre placard stating 16 inch wheels then you car is illegal.

I'm not to sure of legalities...I'm pretty sure you can put whatever fits in the guards... :
As for insurance, mine will insure me for wheels 2" larger than largest offered from stock. So I could get 19" rims insured because of the EB GT being 17".

Which state you in??

I am Vic and my ED came out wit 14" stockies and i am running 19" rims and got roadworthy no prob..

In VIC you can go as big as you want as long as the overall diameter (rim + tyre) doesn't change more than +-15mm and the width is no more than 1" wider..

In NSW You are limited by the 2" larger than wat was fitted to the car but as they don't know if the original purchaser of the car ticked the bigger rim box and got the 16" optional factory allowys you can go to 18" with a bit of persuation of the tester..

In QLD i have no idea..

Most police unfortunately don't realise there are different rules in different states.. So to combat this most people go get the eb GT tyre placard which says the car came out with 17" rims.. Tricks most police as they often don't know wat rims the cars came out with..

Cheers,
Nik

the legal is 2x2 so you can go 2 inchs larger and you can only increase the track width by 2 inchs. so if your car come standard with 205 wide tyres you cant use somethin like 245's because it increases the track width by over 2 inchs
