Saw one up close at the Henry Ford museum in Detroit.. this plane type was the backbone of US air travel and air freight for a long time.

Smithsonian Institute at Dulles Airport just outside of washington DC has one of the original Ford Tri Motors there. You can walk all around it and touch it.
They also the original Dash 80 or better known as 707 (first ever swept wing commercial jet), the Enola Gay (dropped the atomic bomb over Tokyo in WW2), a Concord, an SR71 Blackbird, and part of the wreckage from the two 767's used in 911. This is not an outside museum by the way, it is covered and air conditioned. You should also see some of the engines that they have on display from WW2; there is a 73 cylinder 92 litre radial engine that develops a whopping 3775kw.
