Anyone know if the power steering switch on an EA is just a warning light switch or does it serve some other purpose?
If the former, would it hurt just to bung the hole? Any ideas what thread? |

Its there so that the EEC knows when there is load on the PS pump so it can idle up the engine a bit so it doesnt stall. Im not sure how the car would run without it though.

No warning lamp assosciated with your power steering. Yeah, the ecu uses it to determine when there is a load on the steering so it can increase the idle.
If you just disconnect it your idle will go too high. The switch is a normally closed switch. If you want to just pull it out you'll need to short the two connectors so that the ecu assumes no load. But you may have issues with low speed steering. |
