Default new avatar picture

Can someone please advise me on how to get a picture in my avatar? The problem I have is that the photo I'm trying to copy is 1280x1024 142KB. Its a JPEG image downloaded from my phone to my computer.

Thanks,
Pete

You need to shrink it to 100x100 in order for it to fit.

I'd go 100x75 or so, seeing as you are limited to 100 each way.
