Default is your car your best mate and why?

Hi guy's
Too some people that may sound very strange " is your car your best mate'?
myself I don't find that strange at all and "yes my Ford Mondeo is my best mate.

It looks after me and my wife when we go out. It gets me safely to and from home and its still fun to drive.
I took it to get serviced and asked "if they could check the back brake pads".

The rear pads needed changing and they also found out the rear wheel bearings needed replacing also.
Then i took it to the motor trimmer as the drivers seat needed repairing which only cost me $150 dollars.

The Mondeo was off the road for a few day's and i used my wife's car but it wasn't the same. I told a work mate " i really miss my car" and he said "mate it's only a car".

Its not just a car to me. Its my mate and that's hard to try and explain to a person who really isn't into car's.

No, but I kinda get it.

When I moved from Brisbane to Winton, well I'd never left the coast. I was going somewhere unknown, and all my photos along the way had my car in them.

A fb friend commented saying it was more a gallery of my car than anything else, but it was my car that was carryjng me. It was an integral part of the journey, and a journey I couldn't make without it.

I’m in my Ranger everyday for work and family duties. You do get very familiar with them spending so much time in there, especially if you enjoy driving them. Not my best friend, more like a trustworthy business partner haha!

I’d suggest it’s an expression which resonates more with those on the autism spectrum. That’s not meant as criticism.

It would be strange if you owned a 911/930 Porsche.

I understand the emotion but no, if I treated my mates like I've treated my cars I wouldn't have any

On a day to day basis id say not really, but if im about to head off on a long trip interstate then whichever car im taking will be given a full detail and whilst im at it you'll find me talking to it quietly about what were about to go through like a strapper would a thoroughbred before a race.
Then if it brings us back home safely and without issue i'll pat the dash and thank it before i leave the drivers seat.

Strange hey.

I don't mean this to offend, but I find people hard work. That is as much about me being shy/awkward around others as it is about certain people I interact with.

While I would not say my cars are my best friends, they are a prominent part of my life. And in different ways. The Ranger is my workmate that plays a large part in how I earn money. The XR6 represents a time when my life was happy and carefree. The XR8 is a understated but well spoken friend. And the Mustang is an athletic and flamboyant friend that always makes me feel good about myself.

My best friend is my dog. And like the cars, my dog will never treat me like a fool, belittle me for the amusement of others, take advantage of my nature or talk behind my back.

I see what you did there:

I can sort of relate. About 10 years ago i bought an 03 Corolla wagon for a general do everything car, 1 owner 140,000 klm's for 3 grand. 10 years and another 200,000 on the clock it has not once broken down and apart from general servicing i have spent nothing. it at some point has saved everyone in my family when their cars have stopped.

i love my Mustang but, when i drive the Rolla i just feel secure and comfortable. So it is like a friend you can always trust.

I was told long ago by someone your car is an extension of your personality - for some it would be some not......
Others may say a P enis extension.
I do consider my car/s are my close friends, a daily not as much being in that position nowdays but my beloved Fords I luv them dearly and have said before warts and all !
The ones I have mlidly modded you could say they are a extension of my "tastes".....
Be it wheels/stance etc it is your passion.
I do miss them when I don't get to drive them much.
I caress them when I wash them, I caress them when I drive them spiritedly.

As much as I like my cars I’d say no. I’ve never attached human characteristics to any of my cars.

However I’ve had loan cars which are the exact same as the car I own, yet they never feel the same. I guess it’s just all in my head, I just know it’s not mine and therefore know it’s not as good.

No but they rate highly in my life, they take the stress away (most of the time ) and brighten up otherwise dull days much like my grandkids and bring lots of smiles to the gallon for me.

Despite my passion for performance cars.............nope
In the end they are just inanimate objects that make vroom vroom sounds.

They are a great hobby and certainly bring much joy - but best mate - nada ..
