Default What is your local Holden dealer selling now?

After the pullout of GM and the supposed super dealers being left to sell GM products, I was wondering if anyone would be prepared to take the gamble and keep selling GM products or cut their losses and change makes.
The Local dealers on the Mornington Peninsula have gone to Hyundai in Mornington and MG motor in Hastings.
Any other surprise makes out there in Oz.

My local dealer (and where mine was purchased from) is a large multi franchise dealer. Mitsubishi have been moved into the Holden Showroom/Yard from their other smaller site on the same road and the Company has moved its "Chinese" stuff into the old Mitsi site (MG/Haval)

Don’t know whether the dealers here were super dealers, but they are/were multi Franchise sites anyway, Nissan,Hyundai so it seems fairly much business as usual.

Not a Lot...

They Took on Mitsubishi when Holden announced the factory Closure.
Back in Feb When the plugged was Pulled, They Took on Hyundai, But they're the 3rd Dealer in Town to have It in the last 6-7 yrs.
Obviously No Money in "driveaway no more to Pay" Hyundai's in a Country Town..!!

It's one of those multi dealers, they now have Mitsubishi badges on the old Holden building. Not sure what's on the old Mitsubishi building. Probably some Chinese crap.

My WA local dealer formed in the 1960's and was regarded as one of WA's biggest and they obviously had some smarts and dumped Holden right after GM's announcement.

They are now a Mitsubishi dealer with used 4wd's in another section.

Seems to have been a good move as now every time I drive past there is always someone looking at the Mitsi's compared to yarda with their previous Holden assortment.

They had recently renovated the Holden Dealership, a multi franchise that sells Subaru and a few other makes.

The Holden logo got removed and replaced with Nissan.

The Holden service is still there though, and they said they will sell spares for the next 10 years.

Will GMH now NLA a lot of their spare parts except for the last models they sold?

I went to get a few bits for a VE commodore and they are not available anymore.

Ours still has the Holden sign up but only sells Mazda and an assortment of used vehicles. They still advertise on the radio that they service Holdens.

2 of my local ones have moved their existing Mitsi Franchises in. One has taken on MG to replace the mitsi site.

Another brand new Holden dealer (less then 12 months old) has now become Nissan.

So sad really. I had a few Commodores over the years and enjoyed them :(

Here’s what I found about GM’s future plans for Australia.
Just wondering if anyone would take the chance.

“GMSV, or General Motors Special Vehicles, effectively replaces Holden Special Vehicles in Australia. The new business will initially offer Chevrolet Silverado pick-up trucks converted to right-hand-drive by the Walkinshaw Automotive Group in Melbourne, as well as a new Chevrolet Corvette built in North America next year.”

Will like to see how many dealers go to different brands and the effect of new car sales as the
Dealership coverage expands.
Like some have said, they have just relocated secondary brands to the Holden showrooms and chucked in the China imports to fill the space left behind.
Probably only increase China brands sales nationally.

There is still John McGrath Ford in Woden, it was the Belconnen branch that closed. McGrath's bought Woden Holden way before the closure announcement and Gerald Slaven was also a Holden Dealer before the later two swapped in Belconnen. I wonder what they will do with the Woden Holden?

Moruya Holden is now Moruya Ford also.

Do we see an emerging trend here?

Coffs Harbour -

The local Holden dealer has for many years sold a few other brands, Mitsubishi, Subaru, MG and VW.

Local Ford dealer (which is next door to the above mentioned yard) also sells Mercedes, Kia, Izusu and Ssangyong

Adelaide Holden dealer still a parts and service operation....but Holden signs down for the most part unclear what's happening with that. Diversified into Kia and other stuff. Might make more on parts than cars...Mrs's Cruze negative cable suspect on battery, been suss since day one but only worsening behaviour after these years really clarified it as the negative cable failing. There's a TSB around it but well the issues right now not in a month when they could supply. Right then, negative cable, around 14" long, nothing exotic, um $125. The guy apologised that the prices had multiplied since Holden said bye byes. Yeah they'll look after parts for a extended period as the warm huggy ad's say.

Supercheap, $25 for a 15" generic and all fixed. Think it's a good time to look at that Puma she likes.

That's what some dealers are selling now.....still milking the cow.

Parts for local cars are going through the roof now....especially GMH. I went to get a new AC Actuator for our VE and they used to be about 20 bux, now they are $80+ if you can still get your hands on one.

Couldnt even get a new manual shifter from GMH...NLA now. Had to get it from the USA GM Dealer as a Pontiac G8 part.

For our local cars specific parts will be a problem soon.

Ford must be running low of some FG/FGX Parts by now, i was told they are keeping the prices up to guarantee supply for people who need them, whether that is true or not i dont know.

BTW update on our local dealer...there is a new "small" black and grey sign saying "Holden Certified Service" now at the service and parts area. Apart from that you wouldnt know it ever sold Holdens.

The Adelaide ones are either Hyundai/Kia/mg/ldv.
If you want to go back in time, I was in the Barossa this week, steinborner Holden in Nuriootpa was still fully signwritten AND full of new Holden stock. Not sure what their plan is there.

It might be an idea to run GM (and even Ford) part numbers through the rockauto search, sometimes you will get a hit when the part numbers/parts are used in US cars.

The 'parts giant' company has been ok to deal with for me also. They have a GM parts giant division, ford parts giant, and even a mopar parts giant.

The most recent thing I bought from GM parts giant was a transmission part for a 4l80e, rock auto didnt have them listed.. it arrived in about a week via fedex, cheap freight too (like rockautos fedex option)
