Unhappy Cancer

I normally don't like to draw attention, with sympathy threads, but I have to get this off my chest.

Today I lost my uncle to cancer, and he was only 47. I wasn't that close to him, but close enough to know he was a decent bloke.

This is the 3rd relative I've lost to cancer in the last 3 years. First being my pop who was 72, and my grandad who was 69.

Cancer is so cruel. I saw him last week on Valentine's Day, and man it was a sad sight. :(

Atleast he's in a better place now, and not suffering.

Sorry to bring such a sad thread upon everyone.

That is very sad mate..

It's hard when you lose someone you know, regardless of how close you are!

I know all too well how you feel, and how cruel this disease can be. I am close to losing my Aunt to this plague. Maybe science will one day rid us of it, but for now live life to it's fullest.

Condolences to you and yours.

Thankyou guys. I really, really appreciate it.

No one deserves to die like this. I was with my grandad right up until the very moment he died, and I know full well what it's like to experience.

I really hope Science can rid of it aswell.

Sorry to hear this mate. It's a very common thing these days. I beat cancer 7 years ago this month, albeit at 26yrs of age but have lost family to it also.

Sorry to hear mate.

Cancer is a scurge upon humanity, too see a loved one slowly eaten from within is one of the saddest things we as humans have to endure.

And thats why i FOLD!

Have done now for 4 years. costs bugger all in electricity and all you do it let your PC crunch through simulated proteins.

They even give you points for doing this, so you can have competitions to see who folds the most. Infact the second largest team of folders is Australian.

Maybe this site should start a folding team? and join up with the main aussie team?

Just a suggestion. But anything to battle the evil that is cancer.

Head over to OCAU if you want to sus it.

If feel sad when I see threads like this also.

I feel your pain.

I too am currently under going similar feelings with my own mum who has 2 brain tumours each of which will end up taking her life within a few months.

While not quite the same as cancer, it still leads to the same end.

My condolences, I used to play golf every Saturday with a mate who fought cancer a few times - unfortunately he passed away in his early twentys - he was a top bloke incredibly fit and never complianed and always smiled.

My grandpa died last year from cancer, originally it was a really small lump on the bottom of his arm, he went to the doctor and they told him it was just a collapsed muscle. A year later it was massive and he got it removed, but the cancer spread to his heart and lungs, he got radiation therapy that managed to slow it down, but they couldn't do anything to his heart because a tumor grew right on his main artery. About a year later after my cousins 21st birthday party, his lungs started to fill up with fluid, he went into hospital and within a week, died.

He went from being okay, to dead within one week. He ended up dying right in front of my Dad. His breathing just got shallower and shallower, then just stopped. Only 1 of the 9 brothers survives now.

My condolences to you.

I was doing this with a setup called Rosetta last year (Rosetta stone I think). It grabs a file from the web, crunches it in the background, and sends off the results, then grabs another file to work on.

I think Rosetta was working on many diseases and illnesses though. Its an awesome idea, and a forum of this size could make a decent contribution. Maybe you should make a dedicated thread for it and ask a mod to sticky it. Im in... anyone else?

That's similar to what happened to my uncle. Last year he was riding his bike, and fell off noticing a lump (On his hip I think. Not really sure). Next thing you know he's diagnosed, with bone cancer. He also had a tumor on his forehead. Amazing how quickly it can take a life.

Thankyou everyone for your kind support. It's touching.

I'm very sorry to hear of your losses aswell.

May all cancer victims rest in peace.

like many people on this forum as well as yourself, I to have seen the ravages of cancer. My nan lost a battle to cancer (despite having lived a good life and loved by a very large family, it was still sad to see her go that way). now my family always supports the cancer foundation each year when they come knocking. my condolences to you and your family. you will never been alone in this battle.

Cancer is a horrible disease...It takes away so much from you and from your family. You become the illness to so many people and no longer treated the same. That is a horrible reality of it.

And the treatment for it, in my own experience, can appear to be worse than the disease.

Really sorry for your loss.

very sad to hear . one thing that gives me a chill is so many doctors saying that simple bicarbonate soda. the stuff found in ENO. can cure cancer , but the medical world wont hear of it . they claim that all cancer tumas have fungas in them and that bicarbonate soda taken at the correct dose ( which is an anti fungus) eats it up.

sorry to go off topic . but any hope ios better than none. just keep this in mind . overseas doctors are writing books on it , some claiming they have been curing cancer with this method for 20 years with a 100% success rate, but what do i know . i just read a few books thats all . they claim that bicarb soda cannot be patented by drug companies , so they wont recognise it as it woyuld send many drug companies and related businesses around the world bankrupt . dont want to be too blazay or disrespectful to this thread , but feel i need to atleast give people an oportunioty to explore for themselves as it is a very terrible disease and so far we havent beaten it with science .
many isssues of NEXUS magazine keep repoting this . however they also report many stories on conspiricies etc .
i'm sorry for your loss .

Sorry to hear that. :-(

My Dad was diagnosed with Merkel Cell Carcinoma last year and about a month ago (after chemo and radiotherapy) he thankfully was given the all clear.
But only about 2 weeks later was then diagnosed with Squamus Cell Carcinoma..

He goes in next wednesday to get a tumour removed and depending on what they find he may need more radiotherapy.

On top of this he has a 3rd cancer type that at the moment is lying low and nothing needs to be done - as long as it does not flare up.

I think there would not be very many people around that have not been touched by cancer - either themselves, family or friend.

Again, sorry for your loss, I know it was pretty awful seeing my dad going through his treatment last year.
