Default Some people are a waste of oxygen :(

I just thought I'd share with you a bit of a story that has p***ed me off no end.

My grandmother isn't getting any younger, so my grandfather is basically a full time carer. He was suppose to go in for a knee reconstruction a few months back, but obviously can't anymore. This means that he couldn't get up on his roof and clean his gutters. Now before anyone makes a comment, I would have been happy to do it for him, and have done similar maintance in the past, but he feels a bit guilty at times I think.

Because of the doctors and clinics that my grandmother has been too, someone told him that a government agency would come and clean his gutters for nothing. This sounds good to him, and the dude came yesterday and cleaned them out.

And this is the bit that is... annoying to say the least.

He demanded $120. My grandfather, being a nice generous man paid this amount. The government agency called later to see if the job was done well, which is was, however he told 'em that it cost $120 which was unexpected.

To cut a long story short, it seems that this lovely man and his company is going around doing contract work for the government agency, being paid by them, and then demanding money from the aged who needed their help in the first place. The company in question even went to the effort of calling up my grandfather, and telling him to call back the government aged health agency and say it never happened.

What a load of bulls**t. I don't know the name of the company in question, but I'll be dammed if I let this slide. I can't believe how low some people will go for some cash, to the extent of stealing from elderly pensioners.

Sorry this thread is all over the shop, somewhat annoyed at the moment!

That sucks the big one... make sure you follow up with the agency and ensure that the sub contractor gets the boot.
Totally unacceptable.

mmm i wonder if his neihbour can get some work done too. or you can get the number off teltra . if they did ring your grandfather and book some work from them . then you can follow the guy home and go and retreive the 120 dollars . with a currant affair . or 6 of your favourite mates.you'll be surprised about how people suddenly become genuinly nice when you know where they live.

Find out who the company is, and let us know. Publish their names and things can certainly happen to change the situation. These people are cowards and generally respond well to direct threats, as I can attest to. Similiar situation with grandparents of a family friend of mine, and let's just say that the scheming "contractors" paid back every last cent, gave a thorough apology, and were just delighted to offer some extra compensation on top of it all.

Man, that McSucks big time.

They'll get theirs, not today, not tomorrow, but they'll get it.
That's what I believe with oxygen theives anyway.

Now for a good story.
I was at a local servo one day, getting some fuel.
There was an old bloke whos' car had a flat tyre, and his jack wouldn't fit under it.
I took the time out to use my gear to change the wheel for him (the wheel nuts were incredibly tight!), and he was stoked.
He told me that a number of cars had passed through the servo, and not one person even offered to give him a hand.

What's the world coming to??

Ed

this is not in the same topic but related to what levels people will stoop to for money....
my gf had this woman at her work tellin her about her own daughters dramas in this new job she had....to cut a long story short...the company told her she had to pay for her own uniform....$150...and would take it out of her weekly pay...after she had payed it off the company cut back hers ours to next to nothing...the girl complained to the head office and it turned out that the company payed for the uniforms anyway...the manager of the shop was pocketing the uniform money for himself...then cuttin back all the staffs hours....pretty sneaky
