The overhead crane picture, the 6 storey building looks similar to a prison?
and the camera platform - today we use a drone, but they had the vision back then of the type of footage they wanted.

And this was the Highland Park factory, before they built the much larger River Rouge one, where iron ore went in one end and finished cars came out the other end!

i think Henry even Owned the Mines where the Iron Ore came from as well as the Timber Plantations/Sawmills ect for the Wood for the Body frame & wheel spokes..

100 years ago Ford tried to do everything in house. These days car companies out source as much as possible so the assembly process of the vehicle is efficient as possible.

Even had millions of rubber trees in Brazil, although that one didn't end well.

There are 2 sides to that one, and many different approaches. VW is much more vertically integrated than most manufacturers I think.

What is depressing is if you look a Google Street view of the Highland Park plant and surrounding suburbs, they look like ghettos with many house abandoned, burnt or demolished. This part of Detroit is slowly reverting from city to country.
