The Ranger Car Company is in 6th place.
https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-new...-sales-figures 2,934 of the 4,439 sales with Ford badges were the Ranger. Without this model the brand would be languishing in 15th place just above LDV. How the once dominant brand is this country has fallen..............

I hear what you're trying to imply but come on mate, the Ranger does exists and it is holding it's ground in a very strong and competitive market. |

Have you seen how far they've raised the bar with the new one? It's not luck...

Those flogs who shall not be named reckon they've done no damage to their brand in Australia after their behavior because of Silverado sales, imagine if the Silverado was actually supported and brought in under 'those flogs who should not be named' branding rather than a third party. Interesting how everyone reckons no one wants small cars anymore but the Toyota Corolla is always in the top ten since it went on sale in 2000BC. |

Ford just did not have the stock, Toyota obviously had the stocks, otherwise Toyota would not have had those sales I should imagine.

I'm guessing they just got a shipment and were able to fill orders from more than 1 month... Whatever the case, 6000+ hasn't been the norm. Good effort though.

I should imagine if the Falcon was still around, sales would be very dismal indeed.

Dust off the AU Falcon tooling, make a 1 tonner and sell it for $120K like the 79 series Land Cruiser

AU Falcon would still be more technologically advanced than the 79 Series..

What I don't understand is the small percentage that buy them as personal vehicles and rarely use them for the heavy duty work they're built for. They're as primitive as they get yet I feel there is a bit of small man syndrome going on with that small group. Having said that I think there is an element of that with all the dual cab market. At least ranger has comparable creature comforts and tech to a normal family car.

New Ranger only had 2 weeks of deliveries so August will be it's first full month. Toyota have been pulling through Hilux deliveries trying to rain on Rangers launch parade, but it just means that future months will drop right off cause they had to pull cars allocated to other countries. Does make me laugh when people suggest having a vehicle that is battling for no 1 sales spot is some kind of problem to have when it makes up a large chunk of sales. It's like saying a footy team battling for top spot on the ladder has a problem because their best forward kicks most of the goals. |

Poor analogy because the 'team' is not battling for top spot on the ladder, they're languishing in 6th because their big forward is the 'lone' goal kicker with little contribution to the score board from the rest of the team.
Your forward is like Dangerfield, can win the Brownlow as best in the league while Team Toyota have 4 top ten players stealing votes off one another. |

Analogy gone.
Here’s one: One big forward is a nuffie that destroyed the club in that team camp ( ask Eddie Betts ) the other teams’ forwards are guns, (there are two). |

Does it really need to be a contest?
If you surveyed everyone at your local shopping centre very few would have a clue about vfacts.

Maybe these people also like all those qualities, one of my old customers would continually update their 79 series and just use it to cruise around on the highway, they didn't actually use it as a ute and it was their daily.

I was a car salesman for 15 years selling new Ford, Hyundai, Jeep and Daihatsu and still didn't care about Vfacts. Quote:
Both are strictly private use and while I will admit the dual cab is not used as much as the Falcon, they are both regularly used as intended. I'd be lost without a ute. Quote:

They also seem to be needlessly agro, Ranger owners more than most (probably because Rangers are by far the majority). In my part of Sydney, there seem to be two certainties.... the Camry will hit you if you give him a chance, the Ranger will cut you off or tailgate you.

Funny how its now the ranger car company. Wasnt it also known as the Falcon car company, you know the car we all love. Dont understand why people beat themselves up over cars they arent interested in anyway.

Sure that might not happen all the time, and some people may never do it, but a damn lot of owners do. With out even mentioning the ones used for pure work duties. |

But there is a reason the current twin cabs are top of the sales here in Australia, they really do tick a lot of boxes for many different consumers. I could list them, but the sales figures are doing the talking.

There's a Ranger on practically every 2nd street in my suburb. Seeing one with something in the back is the exception, not the rule. As far as cargo space goes, there's more space (maybe not height-wise) in a SUV with the rear seats down. I'm perplexed why someone who is not a tradie would buy a Ranger over an Everest.
