Hey guys,
thought i'd post an issue i've been having with my 07 LS Focus zetec. When the engine is warm/hot (only when warm or hot) i cant seem to start the car unless i pump the accelerator a few times while the engine is turning over. It wont fire up unless doing so. No warning lights appear, no strange sounds, and runs fine after it turns on. Got me thinking that maybe its a sensor that is faulty when warm. Cold starting is fine, and required no accelerator to get going. Definently not normal as sometimes the engine will shutter until the rev's stabilise. car has 59,000k's, but have noticed it for the past 15-20,000k's intermediately. any ideas? Hey mate,
I have had this happen a few times, but not just when it was cold. Not sure if there is an issue/fix tho, but It always runs fine afterwards

I have this problem with my 06 Ford Focus..... Sometimes it wont start when its cold, and sometimes it wont start 5 mins after I have been driving it and sometimes it will stall (started doing this at 40,000km)... For me its a faulty fuel pump and sensor

I am no expert but my guess would be fuel pump. Or fuel might be vapourising in the line when hot.

I have 05 LS had thias issue since nearly new, hot, cold just anytime it may not start.
I use the anti flood mode (full accel while cranking) let foot off just as it starts. same here no codes, ford found no faults and I have been to lazy to do some of my own diagnostics!

My fiance used to have an 07 zetec
AS said above, full accelerator until it ticks over and you shouldn't have any further problems besides having to do this. PITA but it does work. It has to be fuel system or a sensor not showing the right amps. Either way, hard for Ford to actually diagnose. |
