Hi all, I see there's a few Trends on carsales.com.au but the Titaniums appear to simply be Ford's own press photos. Is it actually on sale yet?
I'm keen on one ASAP but would prefer to get a demo. |

some say june, some say july and aug/sept. (from a range of dealerships I might add)
Ford Australia is having trouble getting their order due to a high global demand. |

When I was in the market for a new car (and I had a definite deadline where I needed it by a certain date as I have to give a company car back) I went into Ford to ask about the new Mondeo in either Trend or Titanium diesel. The dealer had no idea when they where going to be getting them and what sort of wait time I would be looking at.. Which is a shame now that I read the review in Wheels on them... Still happy as larry with the 6 Diesel I ended up buying in its place... Fingers crossed ford gets its act together....

Thanks for the replies. No dealer I've talked to have been able to give me an answer. Just a vague look of general incompetence (which, as someone who's bought 3 Fords, I'm used to..).
Has anyone driven both the Ecoboost and the diesel? I drove a diesel Trend last weekend and was underwhelmed by the performance. |

My local dealer in Perth had one petrol Trend which sold in two days. He said that it may get 4 more for the rest of the year!? Not enough is coming from Europe. My MA diesel will have to keep going for another year.
My friend is waiting 3 months for XR6 Turbo. Shortage of turbo motors in Australia! Greg |

I asked about when more will come and will that be the Hatch or the wagon with what engines? He suspects maybe 3 - 4 months in Hatch form, no real idea of what engines will come first with no ETA on the Wagon. I don't believe the dealers have any knowledge on when a sufficient amount of stock will be available. For those that are looking at a MD Hatch one warning, don't assume the boot is as large as a MA - MC. Because of the full size spare that is now being run, they have made a false floor to accommodate. This has greatly reduced the height to the parcel tray. Based on this reduction my only option will be the Wagon. And for when that can be purchased.................... |

Why would Ford release a car when they can't procure any reasonable level of stock. My local dealer is spinning he can get a hold of a Titanium hatch by end of July or beginning of August. I test drove a Trend hatch yesterday and initial impression is it's a great car. However, I don't believe they can get me a car in that timeframe and so didn't place an order. I really don't want a Mazda6 because of the terrible rear headroom. But I need a car early August at latest. Very frustrating!

Just reading the CarsGuide in yesterday's Herald- Sun and Paul Gover gives the Titanium Wagon Diesel spec the big "X" due to Steering issues and panel alignment. You look at other reviews from drive.com and caradvice.com.au and they rate the vehicle quite well and gave it 8.5 out of 10. There are so many mixed reviews out there about this vehicle.

Yes there is a real mix of reviews out there.
There was a very favourable one in TMR recently as well. Although it alluded to it being better than Falcon which upset a lot of Falcon tragics going by the comments.

Yeah it's frustrating seeing so many differing reviews. How hard can it be to be objective? Apparently Paul Gover has it out for Ford so he'll criticise anything they do.
From what I've read (from Australia and in Europe), The Mondeo is a good car. Not brilliant, but better than average. |

I just checked out ( twice today actually ) a brand new Trend Wagon here at my workplace and the fitment of panels was fine by me. Can't wait to maybe take it for a test drive.

I went to City Ford on Saturday and was told September for a Titanium.
Wagons are only available in diesel, I was hoping for a Ecoboost. |

Oh yes, and ask me how to adjust the steering wheel, insist that the car has a heads up display (no it doesn't!) and we can't negotiate price a new model. Just wonderful. |

I wouldn't get too down on Ford dealers - I could tell you a painful experience with Peugeot which is still continuing with my wife's brand new 308 hatch!

Stuart, True there are some good dealers around (like where I bought my XR5 ...interstate, locals were a big fail), and there are some shockers.
Unfortunately, each dealer represents "The Brand", and negative feedback on forums like this is not good for "The Brand" - Marketing101. To announce a new model , and then not have stock on hand to support the new-business sales results in the sales bubble generated by the announcement being long gone by the time vehicles (for delivery) arrive 3 months later. |

Allanv6gt - all agreed. Unfortunately it is only going to get worse since we are trapped at the Ar$e end of the Earth (as someone once said) and entirely dependent on manufacturing schedules from far away places focused on markets much larger than ours.
It beggars belief that Ford would start their marketing campaign without stock but given the delays already in bringing the new Mondeo to the market - maybe they had no or little choice but to do it. I am sure it would not be a preferred scenario by Ford. What would be the alternative - miss another model release to go to the next one? One thing Ford Australia are entirely to blame for is the training of their local sales staff - they seem to be getting worse, not better.

What's puzzling is that Ford openly said they would be targeting taking volume from the Toyota Camry yet launch the car with limited supply and a lack of the models (Titanium) that they were heavily promoting had certain features the Camry lacked. I get the feeling Ford Australia has both hands tied behind there back and are given what's left from the rest of the world in terms of product.

Two different dealers on Sat told me that we'll be lucky to see Titanium wagon or hatch in 2015.
What a crock - launch in April, sell in Jan... FAIL. |

Interesting Article in today's CarsGuide in the Herald Sun Newspaper by James Stanford. He states that the "Speedo and Tacho are Digital Outputs which look pretty cool". Can anybody please confirm weather this is true or not.
I've read on other reviews that's states not even at Titanium spec you get a Digital Speedo. Has there been a firmware upgrade just recently? Also what do the owners of these new vehicles think of them so far ?... |
