Hi all,
I was planning on removing the injectors in my AU3 Xr6 to have them ultrasonically cleaned and I thought I ask for any handy advice (as I have not removed them before). Few questions as well -Easiest to remove throttle body first? -Is there enough slack in the hoses to the rail to not need to disconnect them? -Injectors just sit in with o-ring seal and should basically pop out once fuel rail is unbolted? -Should I sit my old EL injectors (if they fit) back in while the others are out to prevent any foreign matter getting in? -Any bleeding/priming work needed after re-installation? -Any concerns/nasty surprises? From memory it is pretty straight forward, remove intake pipe, unbolt throttle body and move out of the way (no need to remove throttle/cruise cable/wires). I don't recall having to remove hoses from the rail to swap injectors, I wouldn't fit other injectors while yours are being cleaned, just over everything up with some clean rags. Reinstalling is just as straight forward, no priming or anything.

there are some good on car injector cleaners about now this is not stuff they put in your tank they hook a container up in place of your fuel line and run the car off it. I had it done by my mechanic with the throtle body cleaner as well. did a great job and didn't need to remove the injectors. you could eat your dinner of the throtle body

Well it's $180 to get them reco'd or $180 for an on board carbon flush so I kinda feel that it would be best to do the reco at least then I can confirm a good spray pattern. Often wondered how the affective the carbon flushes are though? Any before after stories?

I removed the fuel rail and injectors popped out of cylinder head, but can't get them out of fuel rail. Seem to be stuck in there???
Any answers there as to why or how to remove them without doing damage. thanks. |
