Default Vodafone service

Is anyone else on vodafone having poor services lately. My phone has been dropping in and out of reception yesterday arv and today, when it usually has full service here. When it does have reception I can't make or recieve calls or send messages. Really starting to become frustrating! My girlfriend's phone is the same. I had a look around on the net and couldn't find anything and on the vodafone site it says there is a network issue in nsw and sa but doesn't say what they are or anything. We are on the Sunshine Coast Qld

What kind of phone Luke?

Yes i have been having issues aswell, will go back to 2G service or nothing at all. At first i thought it was my new phone (iPhone 4) having the reception issues but it seems ots the network.
Voda aswell BTW

Definately has been crap the past month Luke. It seems like the network randomly drops out when it wants to, even in the middle of Southport and Surfers.

If our circumstances were different to what we needed when our contract ran out 4 months ago I would've gone to Telstra.

its sad when you start reconsidering telstra. I've had nothing but issues with vodafone for the past 4 months or so. Personally im tempted to tell them where to jam it.

We have a htc legend and a nokia something that is on 3G. We only started having problems yesterday though, it went dodgey for a while then worked normally for about half an hour and been dodgey since
Have fun with Telstra Kenny

Hahaha, how ya been Luke? Long time no talk

We have two Nokia N97s (There is a thread in Advice about my issue with that phone alone) and I can get the service to drop out more than I can get it to work.

Re Telstra: it's worth having someone on the inside.

No trouble with vodafone at all in the last 2 years. Just upgraded to a new phone with them and still no issues, cannot complain about them.

I was in a 12mth contract for only 2mths with Voda....service, reception & customer support were rubbish.
Yeah, Telstra might be a bit more expensive but its the BEST coverage available.

The reason I have been told that you are probably struggling is that their network is pretty much well full. They are still taking new contracts on a network that can't handle the load. Apparently they tried an upgrade a while back but because of some mess up it did not go to plan and a solution is a while way. So this is why in cities the coverage is average, and I have mates with Vodafone in major towns and the coverage is great. My understanding is that it all depends on how many people on on the network in your area at that time.

My reception is always horrendous with Vodafone, I'll be changing providers when my plan runs out.

On second thoughts does anybody know if Vodafone charge much with early termination fees?

However many months is remaining on your contract by your monthly spend. So for example, if I have 5 months left on my contract and I signed up a $49 cap plan, it's 5 x $49 to get out of the contract.

yea I switched it on and off a couple of times and didn't change much. I have since discovered that my girlfriends phone reception is normal at her work and my parents haven't had any troubles on the other side of town either. About to venture out to get some batteries for my home phone so I can call these clowns up and see what stories they can spin me. Hopefully it might work normally when I go out

So when I went across town it started working normally again. Came home and it went back to playin silly buggers. Then about half an hour later it rang and it seems to be working fine again

I appear to have been on that plan for way too long! :-P

As a side note, mine isn't so much phone coverage but data coverage, I'm blaming the lack of coverage on my new 'smart phone' the problems only started when I got it!

IIRC its only half of your 'cap' x how many mths left, last time i left Voda it was that from memory ie $49 cap would be $24.50 x however many months remaining. Could be wrong though.

Optus ftw. They literally bend over backwards to cut my bills in half. All I do is ring up, whinge about how I am poor, and they give me a "courtesy discount". Coverage is tops, and hopefully this new extreme plan I'm on will help stop any high bills.

I called Voda about my net usage, they changed my bill from
$69 cap 500mb data $400 calls etc to
$59 cap 2GB data $650 calls.
Im happy
In conflict to my previous post my issues have been fewer and further apart, its getting better ill admit that but it seems to cut out when i need it the most.

I am sick of vodafone and their crappy customer service. I just pay my bill now regardless because I can't be bothered spending 2hrs talking to 5 different indans, only to go to an aussie who tells me I am inb the wrong area. They can get ****ed.

LOL @ optus ftw comment

LOL LOL

i have optus and three and telstra, canned 3 and optus has a month to go

but i went back to telstra 3 months ago from an absence of almost 10 years and couldnt be happier

i live 8km line of sight from melb cbd and optus and 3 dont work in 3g mode in my house! not due to no coverage just poor signal, i can happily use my telstra phone everywhere now most of the time its full coverage and 3g even in the lifts and dungeons at work where no other network works, and i dont get network busy messages like i used to

sure the value of the cap plans is lower than the competition but the coverage in my areas of use is of greater value than an extra few hundred mb of mobile data that shiity anyway

After being with Telstra for over ten years I decided to go too Vodafone and see what another carrier is like. I lasted 3 weeks before making complaints about the reception. They told me to buy a Telstra pre paid mobile and would divert to it when I was working in the problem area (Pakenham)......

I called in the ombudsman who delivered some weapons grade **** kickery and I'm now happliy back at Telstra, the grass is certainly not greener with Vodafone.

Having problems with Voda for the last couple of weeks.

If your phone does not work at your residence, you may be able to cancel your contract early with no penalty. Wife got us out of 3 contract many years ago using that.

Hope that helps.

i just remembered i was talking to a bloke at my ladies touch footy game who is the managing director bla bla of australasia for voda and i told him that there reception sucks and that the company that i work for is changing over about a thousand phones to telstra.
he said that is was only going to get worse over the next few weeks while they are spending so many million upgrading the system and it is supposed to rival telstras service.
he seemed pretty confident that they would soon be a major player.

he also didint seem to be bull $hitting as he seemed to be pretty wealthy ($20000 paneri watch will do that) and was with the voda team.

so i hope that answers a few questions
