not entirely sure what it is, car smokes "only" on start ups. hot or cold

Black or blue?
I recall reading somewhere about a VH (of all cars) that had this problem with regard to blue smoke on startup. Something to do with oil + EDIT VALVE STEM SEALS /EDIT, with the oil not having drained for some reason, but as soon as it was circulating alright the smoke went away. Doesn't make much sense I suppose. (thanks nEb, valve stem seals were what I was thinking of, not the rings as originally stated) Last edited by mcflux; 02-09-2005 at 10:54 AM. |

If it is blue smoke then my guess would be valve stem seals are gone

refer to my post aswell..exactly the same issue..what the hell is going on, alot of our cars seem to be doing it all at once.
I replaced my vavle stem seals but to no avail. :(

so if it was 100% blowing blue smoke and u changed the stem seals, why is it still smoking?
