Has anyone put angel eyes, like the BMW's, in an AU XR8? I thinking of trying to make some.
Whats your opinion will it look crappy or good? If someone has done it is there any pics or tales of how successful they were? |

There was a thread on here ages ago, no luck tracking it down for you though, but it cost all of $2.50 to make.
In my opinion they looked pretty nice, If i had the spare time and could be bothered I would do it. It was a clear curtain rod, a blue led, bit of wiring, a dremel with a little cutting bit, and an oven.. I liked it and will get around to doing it one day. |

Just a note, playing with headlights is a very visible way of attracting unwanted attention. Sure many people here have done things to their cars that are perhaps in the grey area when it comes to ADRs, roadworthy etc, but this is a very visible invitation to take a closer look if you know what I mean.

*waits* for the idiots that will post " Why dont you just buy a bmw"
lol henri, it is illegal, but so are those little red/blue/whatever colour little eyes you see on alot of cars, or the windscreen washer led's, or undercar neons the list is endless.. a mate has just about everything on his VL, even strobes in the air vents, he's never been pulled over cause of it. But I get pulled over from noise pollution cause of my subs lol. May aswell look pretty when you get pulled over.. maybe you could daze them with 1803143 leds on your car and make a colourful get away lol. |

Why are parkers illegal if they standard on the car? Why is there a record button a VCR?
Just on the AU Headlight thing? Has anyone gone further than a prototype for the HID Lighting system? Or those halogen globes or what ever they are called? |

Just some points on legality
By law you cannot display any other colour lights on a car except white (to front only) amber (clearance lights and turn signals nb: amber clearance lights can only be displayed to the front) and red (tail, brake and rear facing clearance lights) any other colour is illegal, there are also limits on the numbers or lights displayed in certain positions eg you are not allowed on a passenger car to have any more than 7 forward facing white lights (that includes parking, fog and driving lights) any more than that is technically illegal. underbody neon illumination is curiously not illegal as long as the source of illumination is not visible from any position ie: you cannot see the neon tubes. strobe lights of any colour are illegal with the exception of amber hazard beacons such as those fitted to tow trucks etc, and these are covered by the same regulation as the use of your cars hazard lights IE you may not drive the vehicle with them illuminated. Modifications to a cars illumination is not illegal as long as it still complies with the design regulations, though with headlights modifications that alter the reflectors in the headlight in any way are illegal |

Leave it for the P platers in their VL commodores? HA, thats right, we ford drivers dont do anything like that ??
PFFT. Speaking to a officer yesterday 1 of the things was- driving with parkers is not illegal unless its at night time. But I'd put money on it, that if you ask another officer he will tell you that it is illegal. Also said underbody neons are illegal while the car is in motion, while its parked its ok. All I can suggest, if you like them do it, to put it bluntly, forget about the law - after experiences ive had, 90% of them dont even know what law they are enforcing, they just hope we are stupid enough to believe their bullshit and hope that we are scared of and respect that 'I can do anything badge'. |
