Looks like if you haven't ordered your turbo ute its too late. A work contractor we use went to order one today, multiple dealers told him too late, no more orders being taken and none in the system.

Sad times...

I knew people on here were going loopy with their hopes of Falcon production continuing on beyond 2016, but dealers too?

Unfortunately as we all know, the reason for this is no one was really buying them.
Back around the year 2000, the AU Falcon ute was regularly in the top 10 monthly sales list, along with the AU sedan. Pretty hard to believe now, I suppose. |

Not sure if this is 100% correct but my local dealer said the no more auto turbo utes available due to lack of auto transmissions as they are all have being allocated to the xr6t sprints.

It's a shame because they really are excellent utes. People don't think they changed much from AU till now, but the difference in refinement between my brother's BA XR6 ute, and my FG XR50T ute is huge! Apparently FG MkII and FGX are better again! The performance is impressive, the ride and handling is pretty good (although traction is lacking) considering it has leaf springs and 19's with low profile tyres. The seats are comfortable, they are well equipped and there is heaps of room for my 6"5' frame. They're miles in front of any of the single cab 2wd imports.

I ordered my XR6 Turbo ute, Kinetic with luxury pack, back in early December. The dealer told me I may have missed the boat. The dealer could not get confirmation of the order so I called Ford Customer Service. They tried to fob me off but I eventually got through. They told me to call back late February. They were going to make a decision whether they were going to build anymore. I did that but they still hadn't decided. Early March the dealer called me, then Ford. Good news, they are building one more batch of turbo utes in June and that is the end. I got a follow up email from Ford.
There are a few on here that had the same experience and we all got the call on the same day. So if you are not on that list you have missed out. So glad I am getting one, this is my fourth XR6. I intend to semi retire it at around 100,000km because it has to last. I currently do 35000km a year. I will get a Focus to use as a daily. Steven B It is an auto BTW. I wanted manual but dealer and mate convinced me to go auto as I tow a lot and we did not want warranty issues. Last edited by JG66ME; 16-03-2016 at 07:58 PM. |

I heard Police order only for base Turbo Sedans but that is anecdotal, no evidence. They are in wind down mode. My dealer now seems to think all production, ie colours models etc, is locked in.

Yeah it's getting very hard to find a 2016 turbo sedan I've called almost ever ford dealer in Melbourne nobody can guarantee a 2016 plated turbo so i guess that production has totally slowed down.

If you want one I would jump on one of these. Even if I had to ship interstate.

Sprint has effectively replaced XR6T besides police orders. And good luck getting a Sprint. Although given the Sprint's price it's not an XR6T replacement, it's more like a second coming of the F6 and the XR6T is discontinued. There are '15 XR6Ts out there but only a handful of '16s in the country, some still arriving in dealers over the coming weeks. But beyond that it's all Sprint. So basically XR6 Turbos are done. Sad times.

I have purchased zero new cars ever.... One million sales every year means that the people and businesses who do buy new, dont purchase Falcon utes, or any other Aussie vehicle for that matter...
