Mods, if this is old news feel free to delete. I have been led to believe we can expect the FG2 in showrooms next month (December 2011). Story is about two months ago I was chasing a certain spec GT and was advised it is not available as the FG2 was now in production. Anyway I got a call last week to confirm my spec choice as the local dealer had to submit his wish list for his 1st FG2 FPV. Has anyone heard the same or am I being strung along??

Nothing on the FPV web site, and no press releases regarding the FPV series two. Also, a few of the 'in the know people' around here said don't expect anything until next year. I'm with dave on this one.
Maybe FPV are waiting on the ECU updates which will come with EcoBoost next year. 5.0 NA XR8 anyone? I can dream can't I!!!

Boss 315 - agreed thats what made me sus??? Hence the question. That said this dealer has never told me any porky pies yet, and I have bought 8 new cars from them so far and change the majority of them every two years so why risk that relationship? He knows me well enough to know that one of the major reasons that I buy through them is that they have always been straight with me? Even when news is bad.....

Looks like December 5 is the date. Have a look at the thread here:
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11349320 Dash is usually on the money, so I'd take this as being consistent with what your dealer told you. Dan |

Yes Ford / FPV's okay to ship is the 5th of December so we are told, which is 2 weeks away today.
Cars are built and sitting at FPV I am lead to believe but I have not been there to have a look. I dont know why FPV are so tight lipped about this considering the car has only had a very slight tweak and they have very little stock floating around of MK1 anyway. Dealers will have cars allocated to them with Oct / Nov / Dec compliance plates, I would not buy a 2011 unless you are getting some discount though as there wont be any bonus's on these cars till next year. Wait for a 2012 plate.

I hope Kinetic is a good looking blue, all the Ford blues since shockwave have been to dark or too light for my taste. |

Does this mean that stock of normal MKii falcons is also expected around the same time? Dealers have told me a range of things from it'll be ready for christmas to early next year

I think they are building up stock so everydealer gets cars at the same time but there could be a few MK2's arrive at dealers earlier depending on trucks and logistics.

Another fail by Ford in the marketing department if you ask me. When are they going to to understand that the upmarket sports range sells the other cars, Holden have been doing this for years.
Even some pics and/or specs will wet the appetite of potential buyers and generate more interest in the FG2 range. I still speak of the FG2 at work and in my circle... no one has a clue its even coming out. The only people who know about the FG2 at all are Ford fans or those who follow automotive related media. When are they going to get 'real' car fans into that company and kick the queens, women (referring to Territory adverts) or whoever it is the marketing departments making the mistakes? We should be seeing FG2 FPVs splashed over everything!! |
