can I retrofit traction control from a fairmont ghia to my S1 XR8?

I cant give you a definite answer but it would be a massive job - ECU, ABS module and god knows what else to change

short answer is yes.
But it would be more cost effective and time wise to go and buy a S3 xr8 or similar with the options you want.

If you are determined you will need a through knowledge of electronics as it is not a plug and play event.

did s3 xr8 have traction control? i didnt think so, i know my s2 doesnt.

i didnt think so, i thought it was only fairmont's, fairlanes and t series that go it.

Our AU ghia has it,its a pain in the ar!@# I wouldnt go to the expense for something you can just ease your right foot with!!!!!

first thing i do when i start the engine is turn it off.

there is a lot of construction going on in my area and thus the roads are covered in a lot of dirt, mud, oil, other debris, and whenever you take off with a little bit of enthusiasm it cuts in and out and is just a pain. if it were a little smarter, then yeah sure. but nah not my cuppa tea.

What about adding it to a AU1 Fairmont? Will I already have the right ECU and ABS module just not 'enabled' since it's not a Ghia? I don't really want traction control, but it would be nice to tick another option box I guess if it's not too much work to do.
