Michelin Primacy

I need 2 new tyres after replacing the first pair of a set of Primacy 3 ST tyres last year. I've checked the service records, and this last pair has lasted somewhere over 70,000 km. That is by a considerable margin a record for me.

I have had the wheels aligned whenever the wear has started to look uneven, not rotated them often enough, and kept the pressures at 35 front and rear.

The Primacy 3 is no more, so a pair of the 4's will be fitted next week. They look quite different to the old tyre, with wider, straight grooves and a flatter shoulder. Hopefully they are at least as good as the old tyres.

The person at the tyre shop tried to sell me the Pilot Sport, but he has a Nissan Skyline. I think the Primacy will be just fine for a Mondeo wagon!

Wow. Even my rear oem Michelins are gone at 30,000km. Front x 2 were replaced at 12,000km due to a unrepairable puncture and 2 x Continentals gone at 18,000km. Going to put on Bridgestone ER300s had them on a few prior cars. Great wet weather tyres.

Hopefully they last....

I could not believe it when I checked the mileage. The other pair lasted about 55,000 km, so the average is still over 60,000. I'm hard on tyres, and can't recall any set lasting much more than about 30,000.

The one thing to remember is they are not a sports tyre, but they seem well suited to the Mondeo. Plenty of grip wet and dry.

My Primacy 3's were recently replaced with Primacy 4's on both Mondeos.

67854km and 71141km. They were still at 3mm but they had a $100 cash back for a limited time.
That's mainly open road driving. Probably stop start wears em out quicker.

The Primacy 4's have wider grooves, which means less rubber. The tyre guy said they would last just as well. One way to find out I guess.

I'd be disappointed if my tyres didn't last 60000km.

That mileage surprises me too. My last MD had Primacy 3's on it. I loved them. Unfortunately she was written off with 20,000 on the clock. I must admit they still looked pretty new when I had the accident.
My current MD has Contisportcontact 5's. Nowhere near as good as the Michelin's IMO. I always run 38Psi as I can have a boot full of credits at the end of the week. Rotated these at 15,000 with alignment, currently at 25,000 and I reckon by 35,000 they'll need replacing.

I like these tyres too. Ran the 235/50/17's on my FG2 Lpi. Unfortunately they don't make them in a 235/45 for those of us with 18" rims.

I've never driven on the Primacy 3, but I have a set of Pilot Sport 4 on my Mondeo, and I think they're brilliant. That being said, they're only about 8,000km old, so let's see how well it holds up in time.

I have 16" wheels and the PS4 isn't available in 215/55-16, otherwise I would have been seriously tempted. The price difference was only $5 per tyre between the Primacy 3 and PS3.

Am replacing the OE Continental ContiSportContact®5's (hopefully) next weekend. I would rate them as good, but not great. Will clock up 36,000k's this week. The tyres have noticeably lost performance and grip the last couple of thousand.
They will be replaced with the brand new Goodyear Eagle F1 Sport.

How are the tyres going. How many k's up now ?
Was about to purchase the PS4's, but then heard about the new Goodyear F1 Sport. Believe they're replacing the F1 Directional 5's.

14,000kms now. Still loving them. Still plenty of tread left. Compared with the OEM ContiSportContact 5, these are miles ahead.
