Remember the 80's? Remember how cool everything was? Yeah?
... I don't. I missed most of them, being born in '85 and all. But apparently they were a bit of alright. Remember murals? Now those I remember. I see a few vans getting around these days still sporting a nice sunset or something sprayed down the sides. There's an XF ute getting around Bayswater on occassion with a shark plastered across the tailgate. And there's those poxy looking V Series Sandman's with the swirls and crap over the back. But does anyone remember that black Landau that graced the pages of Street Machine many years back that went by the name of Doctor Death? It had the big, monster-looking-thing airbrushed over the rear quarters. Shortened quarter-windows. Big, buldging quarters. Plenty of steel to use as a canvas. I'm actually thinking about doing something like that on mine. Something subtle, blended into the paint around it, just to break up all that body aswell as to set the car apart. So my question is, are murals still popular? I'm not making this post to guage whether or not a mural on my coupe would be well recieved, as that'll be a decision I, myself, make with time. So don't bother replying to say "It's your car, do what you want" or anything along those lines. What I am after is everyone's opinions on murals, just for a bit of discussion. Has anyone had a mural on their car, or have you spotted one getting around (past or present) that's really stood out? Photos would be good, too. Also, I'm on the hunt for pictures of 'Doctor Death', so if anyone's got some, they'd be greatly appreciated too.

It comes down soley to the talent of the airbrush artist.. I've seem some shockers and some that look horny.... A few of the XR Qld club cars as coyote alluded to have murals, but imho that are'nt top shelf 'art'.. Its not the fault of the owners at all, but the ability of the artist.. I would recommend spend the extra dollars and go for the best artists around.

I think with the paint and tools available today Murals would be pretty awsome, assuming the artist is.
I like a nice subtle mural that blends in, with no distinct edges ya could say. Hey if its a nice job then most will like it.

My mother was born in Malta, and some of you have seen the Iron Cross wheels I want for my coupe. I want some Iron Cross mirrors and then to paint the car black with full chrome and give it a sort of 'Maltese Falcon' type theme, just for something unique. Oh, and themes rock.
I know a Landau isn't a Falcon, but it's my car and I'll do what I want. So any mural would end up being based on that theme somehow, maybe some falcon looking thing in that 'ghost' style that auslandau mentioned. **blood flow**

Murals = good.
Def a good idea. You just have to get the choice in what you want on the car right.

I can remember goin' to shows with the ol'man and seeing some of the originals, awesome stuff. I love 'em. It was a dying artform that thankfully is making a slow comeback in some circles. I still remember this old Mercury Hearse with Dracula and Vampire nurses pianted all down the side, mmmm those nurses were hooorrnnneeyyy!!

I ИИИИ you not, I have seen a dark green VK commo with mel gibson's mug on the side of it, braveheart makeup and all. Looked like they'd done a damn good job despite the subject matter.
Oh, and the boss's grey rodeo has a flame kinda pattern down the sides and a pegasus flying outta the bonnet, pretty cool gets quite a few looks.
