would you work for a holden dealer if the money was right. i have worked for a lot of Ford Dealers where a lot of the machanics that worked there drove Holdens, and they said they liked driving them but hated fixing them.
So would you work in a Holden Workshop??? I just started in one as a Service Manager. The Ford Dealer said he wanted to wait a few weeks to make up his mind. Just the right one to work for , some one who is Decisive! : |

Yes.
Would I buy a car from there? No. Would I drive one if they gave it to me free, and payed for petrol, insurance etc? Yes. Bias can only go so far.

I would. Don't think it matters too much at the end of the day. I'd still drive a ford. At my dealership we have many holden nuts, when you start out as an apprentice you take what you can. I'm lucky 'cos i'm a ford nut at a ford dealership. Can't ask more from that.

Only if I were in charge of informing bogans that their bogan chariot had just suffered a major component failure and now must be turned into a cube :evil3:.

Where you work is decided by how much you're paid [edit... or the opportunity]. The work you're doing doesn't describe your passions!
If they pay enough, why not? The passion might come into it when you get to a managerial/PR role - that's when a Blue-blooded employee might find it hard to promote the red badge. |

Facts are a job is a job, it's better to work for thr opposition than bludge of your parents or the dole.
When you are in the motor trade, you realise that because of a badge, it does not make it a better car. You may have your favorites, but it still may not be better than the oppositions product. I have owned fords for over 22 years and have also owned holdens, I follow fords in the car racing and in arguments with my mates, but fact is holden make a car as good as ford.

I did my YR10 work experience at Hawksbury Holden in Windsor, Sydney..
Would I work for them? HELL NO The practises that I saw there were simply just wrong.. after seeing it, would never again. that was a fair few years ago, so maybe its change? but emptying a injector clean bottle into the sink and checking it off like its been done, getting a rag and whiping the oil filter clean and saying its been changed, toping up the oil with new stuff and ticking it of saying oil change was done, jacking car up, without having any jack stands inplace before climbing under. putting car up on hoist and bending NEXT to the mounting points, not actually using the mounts. generally thrashing and doing burnouts in customers cars.. probably happens at alot of dealers and workshops, its not good really.. |

Actually it's not to be expected. If a buissness lets that happen they need to be shut down or if they found employees doing the above, they should be fired.

Alot of them were apprentices that didnt care I think, I know they go through alot of mechanics though.
I agree with you, they should be shut down or fired if its still happening, as I said its a few years ago, I dont know what they are like now. but ive heard the same stories from various other dealers, I just witnessed this happening at Holden. |

Would you care working for woolies if you usually only shop at coles? Nope, didnt think so.

i wont work at a ford dealership again either, not unless the rates increase and they are a dealership which still have night (3-11) shifts available. Money isnt good enough to be run off your feet 9 hrs a day, the amount of cars we used to turn over in a day is just mind blowing. Damn service advisors riding you all day to clear the board, just when you think you get ahead they swap the RO's around and you have another half dozen under your name. Dont get me started about them still booking in vehicles come 3-3:30 :o
Maybe it was just my dealership, but from the other ford guys ive spoken to its pretty much the same where they are, not enough money and way too much work. |

A job's a job - but I'd leave my Territory parked out the front while I was at work.

I done my year 11 work placement at a Ford dealership.
That was cool because I learned so much about cars from working there. |
