The original 1974 Gone in 60 Seconds is the one to get. It has a really long kick *** chase scene. About 40 minutes long I think.

Christine. Not a "car movie" per say, but it's about a killer 1958 Plymouth Fury. Think of Herbie going on a homicidal rampage.

Just in case you've been living under a rock, start downloading Top Gear. There are 14 seasons to choose from.

Other than that.

Running on Empty - if you want B grade hokey home grown.

Bullitt - Steve Mcqueen ( not strictly a "car" movie but got a wicked chase scene)

Le Mans - again, Steve Mcqueen

Days Of Thunder - Tom Cruise

"The Car" - old B grade horror flick about a demonic Lincoln that goes round killing people.

Cannonball - David Carradine, the one that started it all

Cannonball run 1 & 2 - Burt Reynolds

Gumball Rally

Smokey and the Bandit series.

That's all that comes to mind off the top of my head.

Dirty Mary Crazy Larry is a great early 70's flick with Peter Fonda, a tough 69 Charger gets a flogging in it.

Running On Empty is the quintessential Australian car culture movie made in the early 80's featuring a tough Dodge Challenger a nice XY GT and a tough as guts blown 57 Chev, it's a must if you haven't seen it.

If you are one of the rare few that have never seen any Top Gear, I recommend starting with Season 7, easily my favourite!

Yeah Topgear for sure.

if you want a horribly bad car movie that you can't help laugh at and has a young Charlie Sheen, "Wraith"

..and the scene where he hit the pole, he spent a week in hospital. Bad acting missed lines made this film a cult

I thought Death Proof was pretty good. Though its mainly the second half of the movie for the car chase.
