Default fiesta ws lx phone mode button 2009 modle

HI ALL. I Have a phone mode button on the indicator arm witch the car manual states, incoming calls can be accepted by pressing the mode button once, press the button again to end the call. 'WELL',the dealer set it up in front of us and showed us how to use it, all seemed fine . next day driving i went to answer phone, pressed mode button once, it didn't connect me ,insted the cars voice command arsked for a command, example would you like radio, cd etc. i can answer a call by pressing the phone button on the dashbord.THE dealer told us it should work by pressing the mode button.so he got a nother new car a few days later and tested it, it did the same thing.I rang ford and are investigating the issue here in OZ and with ford germany.can anyone help.

Does the phone try to connect when you start the car?
I have an FG falcon, and it works fine.

Works fine on our 09 Zetec

Our phone connects when you approach the car (assumes your phone has been paired previously and bt is on)

We can use the M center button to answer calls. Once the call is finished it hangs up automatically.

The BT icon should be showing on the bottom left of the main screen when connected.

If it isn't, the system will think you want to use non-phone voice commands.

I'd suggest your phone wasn't paired or the BT was turned off ....

What phone is it ?

We have four phones paired with our Zetec and they all work as expected. They include a 6500 slide, a 6300, a 6500 nav and an N73

ie you can answer a call using the M button.

Ooops, I meant bottom right

I'll have a play with our phones tonight and see if I can get them to misbehave.

I paired all the phones and didn't do anything special.

I do know the dealer applied security software update when we picked our vehicle up (had the wrong version on it). Was emailed across from Germany.

Doubt it had anything to do with the BT unit though.

Maybe it is something to do with the software update they applied to ours.

I just rang wifey who has the car today - she answered my call using the M button ....

Well, tried everything last night and the phones all worked using the M button to answer calls.

Definately check with the dealer to make sure the unit has the latest software update.

There is the option to reject all calls (checkbox in the Phone menu) but doubt that would cause your issue.

You do have the radio on when receiving calls ?

Another thing I though of today. I had a Nokia N95 and remember when I first connected to to the car the phone asked what it was connecting to. When I selected Car Kit, it wouldn't work, but selecting "headphones" it works fine. Each time it connects now it does it automatically.
Try deleting the connection in your phone and start again (presuming any of this is relevent!)
At least something to try in the mean time.

My understanding is she can receive calls, just not using the M button.

That indiactes the phone is paired OK.

Ours didn't need any special pairing process with any of the 4 phones.

Yeah, my FG would pair, but the button on the steering wheel would't work. (Sorry, should have made that clearer) When you answered the phone on the phone, it would come through the car. But then paired as headphones worked as you would expect. Go figure.

Ah OK

The Fiesta has a dash answer button (and hannah mentioned that worked) and the M button on the indicator stalk (middle button) but that one doesn't work.

The actual button clearly is functional as it operates voice control but won't answer the incoming call.

Suggests to me it is a software issue in the SYNC.

Possibly why they said they could fix it via the USB port and software.

Hope it gets sorted.

Any update ????

Weird thing happened with wifeys phone tonight (not long after the service)

Phone was connected but when we called, the person on the line couldn't hear us and the phones address book wouldn't show up.

I unchecked BT on the Fiesta, turned it back on and all good again .....

Not sure why but I've had bt connection problems with other devices and a reset of the pair usually sorts it out.

Seemed to do the trick this time. Maybe they did something at the service ?
