Default EL GT Brake Kit

Hi Matt,

I'm looking at upgrading the brakes on an EF Fairmont to EL GT specs.
Can you supply a complete kit with front calipers, rotors & uprights?
If so, what sort of $$ would I be up for?

We have a similar kit which uses the EL GT 330mm discs but we use AU11 twin piston calipers and this front kit is $2200 thanks with exchange uprights.New ball joints need to be fitted as well and are not included sorry.

Hi,

It keep identical track to the std brake set up too?

The E series calipers sit a very long way inside the wheels... Does this kit move them closer to the wheels to, well show them off more I suppose?

And more pics of this set up would be greatly appreciated...

Even XH5LWEPN, not sure what page no. though

I think the front track was left exactlt the same, i'd have to check though i'm fairly certain, 5-10mm if anything. I had mine passed by an engineer the only extra thing i had to do was modify the bracket a little and put my own braided lines on as the ones supplied (even thought there the same) don't come with a ADR approved card.
The calliper does move out further, my guess would be an inch further (this was one of my original questions.
Plenty of stopping power now and it seems that a few people would agree with me.

Yes it does and freight would be about $55 and insurance an extra $33 if you wanted it.

Not sure but it may fit as the pad and caliper set up is the same i think so if the strut is the same type it should i guess . I would have to have a strut to compare or someone on here may be able to tell us if the uprights are the same in XH and E series.

XH has EF front suspension, so the kit will fit an XH.

Also, does anyone know how much it would cost to replace the pads and rotors for this kit? Are the pads and rotors off-the-shelf parts, or is this something that has to be ordered in (or modified to suit this brake kit)?

No they are not ADR approved sorry.ADR approval costs thousands of dollars per kit to get done which is why many brake kits do not get the approval but you can get them engineered on the car.Some brake kit suppliers miss inform there customers about ADR compliance as they will supply certificates for ADR compliant materials BUT not actual ADR compliant brake kits which is very different.
Our kit uses EL GT rotors and AU11 falcon pads so parts will be available quiet easily.

I think i was charged around $500 for certifcate for wheels and brakes, obviously the price on certificates and what they require will be different from engineer to engineer, like i said, nothing structual really changed, it's just a legal piece of paper. Great kit, still happy so thanks again

Yes i have heard that each engineer has different costs and interpretations but with that certificate you also get piece of mind that what you have fitted is a quality product that has been checked by a certified engineer.
Good to hear you are still happy with that kit.
