Default AU Uni Joint Question

Hi All,

Are all the uni joints on AUs the same? An ebay seller's site said that there's different items for wagons, sedans and possibly manual sedans.

I then rang the local AutoOne store and the guy there said there was only one listing for all AU variants.

Anyone know for sure?

Cheers,

GK

hmm dunno GK, i did mine last year, you would think they would try and keep them a common type, although the bigger horse engines might require a stronger uni, like the te50 , i may still have the replacement uni boxs floating around, are you after a part no??

I think as you do, that unless they were heavy horsepower deals, they'd opt for the same unit.

I'm replacing all the unis on both of my AUs. Was quoted $17.99 for Toyo items, but just confirming they're all the same. Not really after the part no, but if you got Toyo units, and the boxes are within reasonable reach, the part no might be handy. Don't go to any trouble though.

Cheers,

GK

I thought they were the same too... Dunno why Ford would change a uni just for different falcons...

sorry mate , i`m not much good to you, i know the box is there, but bits from about about 4 broken down cars mixed in with it :( ,i did find a one of my uni joints the diameter of the caps to best of my ability with a ruler is with my (50 y o eyes) 26.5 mm, the width of the uni flat cap to flat face cap both ways is 83 mm, the original ford ones are spicer brand, on the uni body it`s marked P9 below that is KD, the more i think about it, i think mine where Timken brand, ah well , you`ll work it out mate, i must confess i was a bit apprehensive doing mine.....just thinking how easily it would be to damage the alloy tailshaft, but it was`nt too bad.

Yeah, it's the same unit even on the v8s, dunno what that ebay seller was on about but clearly they're not up to speed on their own products....

Hi All,

Yep I've had it confirmed on the AutoBarn database that one part fits all.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Cheers,
