Gday again ppl, this is something Ive been curious about for a while. Has
anyone here ever invented something that has gone into production? Me? Yes. the first one I came up with got me to the Worksafe awards but, except for limited sales generally, I only had 1 major customer but that was a major league player called Boeing Aircraft. Not large enough sales-wise for me to retire on tho. BUT. My latest is a game-changer for the industry it`s aimed at. ATM I cant give too much detail, suffice it to say this. If someone gets paid $100+/hr to do his job & you come up with something that gets used by that person that does it at 1/10th the time & is stronger than existing products for them to use, do you think I have a winner this time? Methinks yes, & so do a coupla ppl with $$ to back me for mass production. My first was entirely self funded, I could have bought a house for what i spent. This time, others are going to spend their $$ to get it up & going. The moneymen went to a conference in the U.S. for the industry concerned & found absolutely nothing that compares. It seems I`m on a winner, not bad for a solo operator with a shed & some toys, oops sorry, tools to play with dont you think? Next wednesday I go & sit down with them to work out timelines & sundry bits needed. To say they are more than excited about the prospects is an understatement. Me? I`m bouncing off the walls in anticipation & not sleeping well because of it. They are not an unknown quantity trust-worthy-wise, the trust is there from 15+ yrs of friendship. They setup a company 2&1/2 yrs ago with 2 of em, & now employ 24. So they arent dumbnutz & can recognise a good thing when they see it. It will take a coupla months to make tooling etc but its a go, just have to work out details. I cant yet tell what it is or what it does but that will come. Has anyone else had success doing similar? I`d be very interested in finding out & also what your thoughts are. Enough teasing for now Cheers Rij |

Well, that was a bit of nothing post. You asked is anyone has come up with something and proceed to self promote yourself and gave nothing away as to what it is. I understand you have to protect your interests but to be honest, the post wasn't worth reading.

I experimented with making plastic mirrors for telescopes using polystyrene as a base plastic, cast onto a precision glass mould, in a self built vacuum oven at about 140 degrees C. Close, but the cast was not precise enough.

I invented the peanut butter and Vegemite sandwich 55 years ago. It hasn't made me rich.

I invented the world's laziest breakfast when I was an apprentice in Mt Isa in the 80s. My top secret ingredients, of which I will never tell a living soul, were toast overlaid with cheese, with hot baked beans poured over it and topped off by a poached egg. This was the most delicious brekky I could make in the shortest time possible. But I will take my secret to the grave...

I invented masturbation back when I was 12 (44 now).
I've been working on perfecting it ever since.

I have had a go at that but when things start going well, I get let down. Story of my life I suppose.

Yep I have, then it was pinched some years later (after a nda was signed etc) by the number 1 company in its (sporting) field. Still chasing them up, maybe this year they will cough up, who knows. Pretty disappointed with the way this all went down, the full sad story will come out soon when I'm ready. Its been a real bad Odyssey sorry to say....
cheer's, Maka

Not exactly an invention but I built what I later found out is called "wicker beds" or self watering vege garden beds. Got the idea after looking at how those self watering pots work.
So I built four large 1.2x2.4m vegetable beds that have a pipe sticking up thru the soil that fills the water resouvair up underneath. Self waters the soil and veggies for along time with just the occasional top up with tank water! I've since found a billion similiar designs online, in anything from pot plants to pools They are amazing tho.... Still interested in the OPs inventions........ |

Mines more of a discovery than an invention.
Family pizza : request it not to be sliced then roll it up and eat it like a kebab. Penicillin, pace-maker and Insulin...pftttttt...noobs. |

But I let Al Gore take the credit.

Sorry, but I think it was more likely that you invented the art of... uh... shall we put it politely, misrepresentation.

Being a hungry kid at school I invented the sausage roll in a Vietnamese bread roll with mustard.
Or if I was short on money - it'd be dim sims in a roll with soy sauce. Sausage roll in a roll still works! Still eat it to this day and it brings back memories of being a pimply 14 year old.

Plenty of Rip Off stories.
Here's one I heard. I was on a Construction job: 70,000m2 roof was lifted 6 metres ( in stages ), using Hydraulic Lifting Jacks. The Operator was telling me of his idea - Lift the Scaffolding Around a Commercial Building, as each floor is added. He told an old Workmate.... .......who turned up to see our job. And told the Hydraulic's Operator " I've developed & Patented this new lift system , and it's in operation in Malaysia....." You've gotta be careful who you tell. |

OP's clearly invented a
half-screen-width word wrap app. But I've seemed to have easily hacked it. |
