Just wondering if anyone has replaced the bulbs on the LS yet, what light code they took. The stock dull yellow is starting to get on my nerves.

Yeah I am starting to think its alittle too yellow as well. But just dont replace it with a blue one on a Civic I saw couple of weeks ago. It made white cars look like sky blue cars.

Too yellow. Very down market look at night. I replaced the stock bulbs days after delivery. Got some Bosch blue xenons off Ebay for about $40 delivered.

Ok -
LS Focus standard lights are: Foggies are H8, will check wattage later High Beam is H1 - 55w Lows are H7 - 55w And I know what you mean pertuan - I'm planning on the ultrawhite bulbs (the bulbs have a blue tinge on the glass but are really,really white) |

I wish they came with Xenons though. Is it possible to retrofit? Not that I'd do it but how much would it cost?

I know what you mean; with the Euros having it avaliable (Damn you Aus spec Focus!). I'm not sure on the legalities with ADRs, but so long as its E marked (I sound like Keepleft! lol) it should be fine for our roads. You'd probably need the headlight, bulb (over $200 each), loom, controller, etc plus mucking around... Id rather adjustable height and turn sensing lights over xenons tho. Chris |

Arent Xenons legal in Australia? I could swear that Mercs and other Euros have Xenons.
(Vic is fine as long as you dont add bitter after it :P)

Yeah they are legal, but not sure if its legal if they're retrofitted to a car that was ADR approved with halogen lights. ;)

Osram Silverstars are a great choice. Had 55W H1s in my old car. The amount of light they put out for such a low wattage is incredible - just make sure you align your headlights properly or you'll blind everyone. They're actually illegal in the US for that reason I think..
It's a really bright whitish light, none of this silly blue stuff

the biggest issue with retrofitting xenons to your focus is that the headlights dont come apart....
they dont have a temperature reactive sealant....once it goes off it is rock hard.... |

im pretty sure they're the same light and if they could come apart would be easy enough to do a retrofit to........ its just the getting them apart bit.......

Xenons of a certain brightness are illegal, not all xenons are illegal.

It is, but they arent really "xenons" so to speak. Although they are alot better than your standard globes.....ALOT better. I have some in my focus.

I honestly have no idea, you can buy a full xenon conversion kit from phillips which costs around a grand. Yet you can also buy just the globes (which is what i have) for $80 (or up to $200 for the super white ones, illegal by the way). I THINK the conversion kit uses bugger all power to run as compared to stock hallogen systems.
Im just takin a guess tho. Im going to get some superwhite xenons for my focus highbeams. Anyone know if the high beam for the old focus is H1 55w also? Im sure it is, but i dont want to get into the car and check as its a HUGE pain in the bum to get the globes out of the focus. Damn little engine bay. |

From what I've learnt, The $50 Xenon bulbs are actually a normal incadesant bulbs (filament) with xenon gas in the bulb to help make a whiter white light, whereas the xenon headlight bulbs are all gas no filament.
